good for him. I'm a fan and admire that he has so many short comings to excel the way he has and yet he is unstoppable and just keeps giving it maximum effort and lets the chips fall where they may.

Very true, and it is a good lesson for everyone: Never listen to naysayers and never give up. Too bad Micah Downs isn't still in Maine.

IMO David really only has 2 short comings. The size of his body, and the expectations of being John Stockton's son. Any other "short comings" he can fix if he puts in the effort.

The Red Claws have reportedly traded him to Reno.

The Reno Bighorns acquired eight players in the NBA Development League Draft on Saturday. Reno drafted seven players and completed a trade for the son of NBA Hall-of-Famer John Stockton, David Stockton.

With their first pick, the Bighorns selected Joonas Caven, a 6-foot-11 forward from Finland (10th overall). Caven most recently played for Joventut Badalona in the Spanish basketball league, Liga ACB. The 21-year-old is eligible for the 2015 NBA Draft.

The Bighorns also had the 11th overall pick, taking Baylor guard Brady Heslip. In 112 games at Baylor, the 6-2 Heslip averaged 10.2 points per game and shot 43.7 percent from 3-point range.

Reno then completed a trade with the Maine Red Claws to select David Stockton with the 40th overall pick. Reno sent Ray Cowels and their 2015 second round draft pick to Maine in return for Stockton. In his four years at Gonzaga, Stockton averaged 4.8 points and 3.1 assists per game.

Reno selected forward Brian Oliver (6-7) with the second pick in the fourth round. Oliver averaged 10.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per game last season at Seton Hall.

The Bighorns made two additional picks in the fourth round, selecting Ravern Johnson (6-7) from Mississippi State. During the 2010-11 season with the Bulldogs, Johnson averaged 17.6 points per game.

Reno also picked Kevin Foster (6-2) from Santa Clara University in the fourth round. Foster played for Santa Clara from 2008-13, and made 431 3-point field goals, tied for the fourth-most all-time in NCAA Division I history.

The Bighorns open at home on Nov. 14 at the Reno Events Center at 7 p.m.

5 of 17 fgs and 2 of 8 threes?

Hesleip and Porter each had 12 3 point attempts and Warren tried 10 of them. just a big shooting fest there or what?

Even their bigs were jacking up shots and not really hitting.

So this is a good read of what is going on. Stockton is in a dream spot.
http://www.ridiculousupside.com/2014/11/17/7234651/why-david-stockton-stands-tall-as-brady-heslips-perfect-running-mate

Reno is a bit of a "test tube" team coached by an ex-Grinnel player (the controversial DIII school that once had a player score 138 pts in a game).
They are "run and gun" as you never have seen it before. 3s and lay-ups, 12 seconds or less, 2 minute shifts, Must be crazy to watch

Growing up in Burlington, Ontario, just outside Toronto, Heslip was not considered a cannot-miss star. Although he came from regional hoops royalty Jay Triano, an uncle, coaches the Canadian national team

So, cousins (of some sort) with GU's Dustin Triano

ETA:

And why on earth, in a 3pt centered system, would they waive Kevin Foster?

Interesting stat line for David. I haven't watched a D-League game before, and by the stats it seems to be a very different style of play than the NBA. The assist to turnover ratio is not great. I like that David's getting to take some shots, and he's doing alright in that category. Still stealing balls left and right, too.

Reno,

Watched the "record setting" game and David had 4 fouls in first half...neither team played defense. Defenders owned inside and Bighorns behind the 3pt line...the game reminded me of LMU's glory days...enjoyed watching the scoring. I think this is the type of game LMU's coach wanted to have his team play when he took over the Lakers - that is until he had a bicycle accident that is...

Read the article I posted on the first page. Reno is a bit of a gimmicky joke. The Sac Kings owners is using Reno as a laboratory. The experiment is on a zero D, run, lay up or 3 pointer system. The sketchy Grinnell System. They are not a normal D league team that is actually trying to run the parent teams systems and get players developed and ready to contribute to the NBA.

It is probably bad for Stockton. Any success he has will be written off as "the system".
Heslip finally figured it out and bailed to Europe. No NBA team was taking His 35 points a game seriously.
