Also in Malaga, 6'6'' swingman Victor Ruiz ('95) has been linked to Gonzaga by local media. Hard to believe imho. We'll see

This tweet has been retweeted by Domantas Sabonis's brother, Tautvydas, who played for Clinicas Rincon alongside Victor Ruiz for the 2013-14 season: http://www.unicajabaloncesto.com/cantera/equipos.php

Victor Ruiz also opt to go to Gonzaga

          JMO Málaga | Update 24.6.2014 - 5:02

In the last year and a half has been discussed quite emigration of players trained in Los Guindos heading to U.S. universities for compatibility studies and basketball. Ruben Guerrero and Domantas Sabonis already confirmed publicly. The shuttle is also Francis Alonso, who communicated the decision to the club, which assumes that the next season will not count him. But there is more short-term options. One is forward Victor Ruiz, who this season has been on the Corner Clinics and has made the entrance exams to the University of Gonzaga, to which it migrates Domas Sabonis.

Ruiz is a powerful forward 2.00 m born in 1995 and 19 years and this year started at the University to study Business Administration and Management (BAM). Came up with the option to take the American adventure and has been tested to try to follow the path taken by their partners. Although it was in the Corner Clinics still belonged to the discipline of Unicaja, although no plans first team with him. Fashion has become a trend among young Malaga.

I like the last line: "la moda se ha convertido en tendencia entre los jovenes Malaguenos." I.e. it is becoming a tendency for the young Malaguenos to come to the US (or to Gonzaga?). Pipeline.

So if my math's right, he's 19 this year, and if all this is founded on fact, will he be on campus for the 2014/2015 season?

                Interesting to say the least.

So if he does have promise, it would be super to pick him up and redshirt him this year. We would have Wesley and KD this year and then Ruiz and KD next year. He would have had a year to improve his game and move into the position the following year. Just an idea

Meilke's schollie to this kid or McClellan? Seems odd McC would visit if he wasn't sure on a schollie.

Is there any chance he's a recruited walk-on?

Not the first rumblings that I've heard about another Euro signing on. My hope was for Ponitka, but alas I'm sure he has NBA dreams above GU, ability... Well that's TBD.

Didn't Ponitka pull his name out of the 2014 NBA Draft?
