4.52 40-yard. He showed that speed in the Rose Garden...

I LOVE it! Green Bay and Gonzaga are the ONLY two teams that I follow. This is so awesome. He probably won't see too much of the field this season as they have 4 corners ahead of him, but he might do something on special teams. Good for him!

I wish him the best of luck. He is a bit small, but his speed and attitude will easily make up that difference. Green Bay is a harsh place for a Southern boy.

Green Bay doesn't make excuses. Zags have tradition. Zags have talent. Best fans in the world. Let's learn from the Pack. Can Mark Few make this Title Town? Or are we always going to hear how he does more with less.

I'm a Vikings fan so I hope Meech has 14 great games a year

Me too! Perfect! Will enjoy watching his progress. Canadeo wore 3 at GB. DG will need a new number!!

That isn't true, the fans wholeheartedly supported Johnny Jolly when he had his problems, was one of the first teams to embrace African-Americans, and continues to do the little things to make Green Bay a destinationspot for players who want to win. Meech will be fine. He will end up on the practice squad, get coached up and have a 5-6 year career.

Thought this was supposed to be more of a commentary on the weather than anything else but maybe not. Either way, this shareholder is excited!

Another Packer fan (sorry, the Hawks are number 2 at my house). Great article on Meech at the in the Milwaukee Sentinal. Starts out with his Gonzaga background and talks about how he shifted from basketball to football. And how the basketball background helps him. Hopefully the link works, but it's at JSONLINE in the sports / packers section if it doesn't.

No wonder Romar won't play us anymore. Gonzaga's hoops team is now placing half as many players in the NFL via the draft as the once-vaunted UW football team.

Another bit from the Milwaukee Sentinal. They evaluated each of the draft picks. They included a rating (1-10) for if they see the player contributing much in the first year and over their career, with 10 being the best.
__________________________

Demetri Goodson, CB, Baylor (1, 4): The class of cornerbacks went downhill fast after the top five went off the board. As the 29th corner selected, Goodson possesses respectable talent.

Yes, he's a project, and a medical risk, too. He played only three years of college football, and two of those seasons were cut short by major ankle and arm injuries.

Goodson, however, has nice size (5-11, 196), adequate speed (4.52) and unbelievable ball skills honed as the starting point guard for a top-25 basketball school (Gonzaga).

He'll be 25 in June. That's not ideal.

But position coach Joe Whitt made a corner out of Sam Shields, a wide receiver most of his collegiate career. One can envision a scenario in which Goodson reacts well to Whitt's tough style of coaching and blossoms at some point.

This is a unique athlete. He's worth a shot.

http://www.totalpackers.com/2014/05/16/demetri-goodson-signed/

The Green Bay Packers got their sixth-round pick under contract today, signing Baylor cornerback Demetri Goodson.

Five of the Packers nine draft picks are now signed. Their first, second and two third-round picks remain without deals.

Goodson’s deal is for four years and $2.32 million. He got a $103,152 signing bonus.

We know Goodson is an athlete. As we mentioned when he was drafted, he played basketball at Gonzaga before going and playing football at Baylor.

More at the link. They aren't optimistic about his sticking, but other sources suggest he can make his mark on special teams.

Google Demetri Goodson under contract to Packers to get a bunch of stories.

His signing bonus is probably more than I made my first 10 (maybe even 15) years of teaching total. Good for him!
