I thought it was universally agreed that if we had to take back one game loss, it would have been UCLA in 2006.

Blake if you only don't go glass and just put it in the bucket!!

A lot of heartbreak and disappointing memories on the list. A lot of coulda, woulda, and shoulda as well.

GU teams of the past have a knack for letting one guy (sometimes a duo) on the opposition take over a game:

Steph Curry - DAV - 40 points on 14/22 shooting (8-10 3pt)
Wes Johnson & Andy Rautins - SYR - 55 points on 18/29 shooting (9-15 3pt)
Jimmer - BYU - 34 points on 11/23 shooting (7/12 3pt)
Ron Baker & Cleanthony Early - WSU - 32 points on 11/18 shooting (8/13 3pt)

The UNC and OSU games were just dominated by a starting lineup full of future pros.

The amount of 3 point FG's and percentage made in GU losses the past 6 tournaments by the opposition: 14 (50%), 9 (37.5%), 14 (50%), 12 (48%), 11 (57.9%) , 11 (50%). Hard to win when the opponent is averaging around 50% and making more than 10 3's per game.

Definitely a common theme in most losses over the years.

Yes, but all the teams you mentioned went to the Final Four or further (with the exceptions of Davidson E8, and Jimmer)..... Oklahoma State isn't going to kill us with Smart though.

Oh that's very true, and I'm not talking about scrub players beating them either. Just crazy how they have seemed to always hit a hot team, hot shooters, that 3PT% is off the charts.

Exactly. Just insane. Maybe this year.

Good stuff...then throw in horrible locations, and it paints a picture of us against a wall. Here's hoping this year is different!

To paraphrase my stockbroker, past results are not a reliable predictor of future success. I am glad of that, because if you placed GU's NCAA tournament history performance on a line chart you could reasonably conclude that GU's program was relentlessly headed toward mediocrity instead of relentlessly headed toward a National Championship.

Kind of lonely to be a Gonzaga fan this year. I am sitting here in my office surrounded by my excellent display of old Spokesman Review Bulldog posters and my GU NCAA tournament souveniers. Last year my various BCS co-workers all stopped by to chat about the Tournament. This year they are all walking right past my door and giving me that sad but disgusted look that you might give the bag lady sitting in front of Safeway with her foil hat, mongrel puppies for sale, and the sign about the upcoming "Rapture".

Maybe this time next week I will be dancing in their doorways. Not holding my breath, but stranger things have happend.

Go Bulldogs!

I am proud of what they have accomplished, it is really quite amazing. The performance by their opponents in their losses are probably very similar to every other team that has lost to those teams and players.

I doubt there is anything unique about being beaten by outstanding players and teams. That is simply college basketball in general and the tournament in particular.

I sure as hell don't consider 28 wins and a conference championship something to be ashamed of.

Don't forget about Orlando Mendez-Valdez who lit us up for 7 threes. Oh wait, I do forget about that because of MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH!

This is encouraging to me, we do very well in first (second) round games. We've only been one and done 3 times in the last 15 years. That is outstanding.

Some fans pay too much attention to what fans of other teams think/say about the Zags (similar to what happened at the beginning of our "cute little run" over a decade ago)--- sorry to hear that and hopefully at some point you will get beyond worrying about what you can't control.

I have a coworker who is an Arizona alum-- I was in Dallas this weekend and we had a good discussion about both teams-- I just keep telling him that after we take care of Ok State ---- we are coming for his team for a little payback for our tourney exit a few years back-- we both have a good laugh and move on with our day (what he doesn't realize is ....i'm serious ;) )

Gotta celebrate what the world gives you and ignore the stuff you can't control-- it will only make life better for everyone.

Go Zags

Funny to me; that picture posted on here recently of Ammo and Turiaf at Luke Walton's wedding. I wasn't watching college basketball back in 2003, so I didn't realize who Luke Walton was...
