Manhattan-Iona should be a war....two tough, well coached teams loaded with 2nd tier NYC area kids with chips on their shoulders.....probably not pretty, plenty of turnovers, but not one player on either team will hesitate, pump fake, look to the bench and shy away from taking a good shot, much less an open one....very refreshing.

Do they self call fouls/ Sounds like streetball to me, don't hesitate, no fake pumps, shoot when you have the ball. I don't know that I would call it well coached...without actually watching. It does sound a lot like what I see as wrong with basketball today. It has gone away from the team concept to streetball. First team to 21 wins!

my thoughts exactly.....open gym roll out the ball type of atmosphere...not something I akin to good solid basketball.....

Ratball in NYC? Seems appropriate.

It was a good shot at a backhanded compliment-- but notice how everyone ignored it Jazz-- you will need to try harder.

Romar runs the ratball program on the other side of the state ---give them a follow if that is your thing (it would be refreshing for all) ;)

That makes better sense since i could not figure out what the game had to do with Zag basketball -- (other than a shot at our players being afraid to take open/good shots) -- carry on.

I know a Jasper is a rock/type of quartz---- but what did your schools mascot look like?

Glad you are a Manhatten Grad. Does that make the B'ball any better? The way you described it, it sounds like streetball.

"Very refreshing" compared to Zag ball it sounds like.

I will take not as refreshing-- as long as it results in a W.

Go Zags.

Oldest and one of the very best colleges in the country. Turned down membership in the original Ivy League.

1st round in Dayton?

Could be. Somebody has to get sent there. I still refuse to call that the 1st Round, that's the play-in game. The 1st Round is when 64 teams play.

Mika is a dick imo, plain and simple. Carlino is not a stoic guard and Hawes has an attitude. They play hard enough and well enough but just skirt to close to the line to pass the 'feel' test. Right now I'd rather see a Rex Walters coached team pull it out against them.

VinnyZag

I hadn't really looked much at USF's schedule this year. But now that I do ...
San Francisco went 1-5 against GU, BYU and SMC (the win was at home vs. the Gaels). They were 12-0 against the rest of the league.
So a classic case of beating who you're supposed to, but not beating the elite teams in the league.
Does USF make the NIT?

BYU should be fined for all of Mika's flopping

How did the wcc "coach of the year" draw up such a crappy play?

Maybe he needs to coach some of the basics---like free throw shooting and spend a little less time tweeting.

Dawns blew that one.

Rather play BYU anyway --it will be a better win on the resume.

With the attitude that byu played with tonight, especially with the refs allowing it, I'll be surprised if there aren't some technical fouls and possibly an ejection tomorrow night. Sharp and Mika are dirty players period. Have no business playing organized ball in my opinion and it's rubbing off on Haws. Don't get me wrong, I'd personally love for byu to give the committee a reason to overlook them, but only if it doesn't hurt the Zags.

Who will whine more about the refs after they lose? Should be a classic fan base meltdown either way. Should be entertaining.

Also a battle of the least knowledgeable basketball fans in the WCC.

"Also a battle of the least knowledgeable basketball fans in the WCC."

That's why there is such a disparity in attendence among the 3 schools. GU & BYU fans show up to games hoping to learn something about the game. usf fans average 2K a game 'cause they already know everything.

hooter73
03-11-2014, 07:58 AM
The WCC tournament wouldn't even be in Vegas if it wasnt for GU's fans going there and spending the $. You dont see fans from the quick drive of the Say Area, San Diego or LA spending their $ to keep the tourny in Vegas. Not exactly looking for a thank you but maybe the Dinkus Board ought to remember not to bite the hand that feeds...
