In my opinion any "all-time" list has to include Reed Schifferman ....

I'd insert him right between Ronny and Elias:

3b. Ronny
3a. Schifferman
2. Harris
1. Casey

Of course if we're sticking to the time frame of Gonzaga's "cute little run" then I'll go with your list as well.

I think it is essential that those of us that came after the era hear about the older dogs - good job.

Thanks Dixie.

Here's a pic of Reed acknowledging some of the old time GU fans at the last game in the old Kennel (btw that's David's father in the maroon shirt in front of Reed).

A basketball looked like a grapefruit in those big hands of Schifferman.

I would also like to think that Frank Burgess and Jerry Vermillion had some good dunks, but I don't have footage, and/or don't know the specified rules that could have been in place. So I am sorry for leaving them out, but I have never seen any footage regarding these players.

Josh's ESPN dunk V Baylor was pretty good, too.

I'm afraid we'd have to go to the old newsreel silent movie era to get some footage of Reed Schifferman's monster dunk against Northern Arizona.

The single best start to a game that I remember - the dunks, the barrage of three pointers, we overwhelmed them from the very start, threw a haymaker and they were stunned, never recovered. What a starting line up btw.

Josh dunked a fast break "oop" from Pargo vs Kevin Durant & Texas down in (Phoenix?). Still can't figure out how he reached it.

Think the same 2 guys hooked up down at WSU when the Zags blew open a close game to start the 2nd half.

My #1 guy however, is Casey.

All great lists especially the youtube highlights.

For those that know - can we get into (along with more lists) I see three categories: 1 Prior to Breakaway Rims
2. Breakaway Rims introduced
3. Allow Hanging to preserve the guy underneath

I would say that under number two came be best ones b/c there was more thunder knowing the rim could flex and land on a guy, not really fair, but that's the way it is. Now hanging occurs on nearly every dunk - hard to make it special.

The 360 dunk that Santangelo threw down in Key Arena on the UW was pretty clutch during the '99-00 season. Also my boy Scott Snider seemed to throw a few down that got the crowd fired up. Also he served as one of my favorite bartenders at Jack and Dan's.

A couple years prior, Amaya and Josh Reisman had an epic dunk-off at the Gonzaga Basketball camp. Lloyd and Rice hustled them away right after... and low and behold both are redshirting for GU the next year.

Amaya was actually a walk on (I think), but he may have gotten a scholarship at GU after redshirting a year. He ended up at Western Washington where he had a pretty good career.

Reisman was actually pretty decent, an athletic guard that could run the floor and crash the glass...he ended up transferring and playing in one game for BYU.

This Gus Johnson call of Mark Spink's jam in the #10/#2 2nd round NCAA victory over St. John's in '00 is my favorite all time Zag dunk. Start at the 30:00 minute mark and the steal/pass/jam/Gus Johnson magic starts about 40 seconds later.

Only thing I've seen close to this was Reed Schifferman's Northern Arizona dunk.

If I remember correctly, and I may not, dunking wasn't allowed, in college, till the late 60's or early 70's.

Dunking was banned in college basketball from 1967 to 1976.
