Austin Daye traded to Spurs and will join Patty Mills.
Compliments of Urika on GIAG.

I think Daye was only averaging like 2 minutes pg this month anyways, probably to keep him healthy for this trade? Wish both mills and Daye the best of luck.

Daye, 25, played only 33 minutes over eight games all season for the Raptors. The Spurs will be the fourth team for the 15th pick in the 2009 draft.

More at the link.

Maybe now he'll get some playing time.

Hopefully so. I don't think he really fit in with the new system in Toronto.

I'm not optimistic for Daye's chances to play more in San Antonio, but I hope he does.

Mills just had a heck of a game the other night.

With all due respect to the young man, unless he becomes a demon on defense and an amazing rebounder, he won't see the light of day for Pop. I see the D-League in Austin for him.....

Patty Mills on the other hand is going to get a lot of run right now with Tony Parker recovering from a bunch of little aches and pains. Patty has redefined his body and is shooting lights out. Kid has serious game....

Made it off the bench tonight, only took one shot and missed it though.

Hopefully this will be an opportunity for Daye to get his career on track. I think Pop is the best coach in the NBA and the Spurs regularly get meaningful contributions from the their bench/role players. If Daye is going to salvage his pro career, SA is probably the best place for that to happen. But no guarantees.

Interestingly I thought of Patty Mills as Tony Parker lite when he was at St. Mary's. He bounced around several years but now he's doing well for himself in the NBA and getting an opportunity to learn playing on the same team as none other than Tony Parker.

I caught the last quarter or so of the game vs Miami last night. They killed the Heat, and Austin got to play the last 2 minutes or so. Came in and nailed 2 3s in a row, grabbed a rebound and had an assist. He looked good, shot looked great. Hope he can knock it down consistently. Fans seemed to like him too.
