Great read...thanks! Here is an interview from earlier. It'll be strange to see Drew in a different blue, but he is still very much loved here in Memphis.

Man, that last line - "His Senior Night will be next week at home. . . "

Talk about a thump to the skull as to how messed up our scheduling is, Zags don't see the Kennel after next weekend?

Wow.

Go Barham - - as I said in another thread, I think he should start this game. Go Zags, shock me tomorrow and make me feel dumb, please.

The last time Gonzaga did not end its regular season on a home game was the 2006-07 season. The last home game was Feb 19 and we had 2 away reg. season games remaining.

And before that, Gonzaga had a 5-year stretch of last regular season games being 2 straight away games between the 1998-09 and 2002-03 seasons

Last home game per year:
2013-14: Feb 15 (4 away after)
2012-13: Mar 2
2011-12: Feb 27 (Non-Conf)
2010-11: Feb 28 (Non-Conf)
2009-10: Mar 2 (Non-Conf)
2008-09: Mar 3 (Non-Conf)
2007-08: Mar 3
2006-07: Feb 19 (2 away after)
2005-06: Feb 27
2004-05: Feb 28 (Non-Conf)
2003-04: Feb 28
2002-03: Feb 22 (Non-Conf) (2 away after)
2001-02: Feb 16 (2 away after)
2000-01: Feb 17 (2 away after)
1999-00: Feb 19 (2 away after)
1998-99: Feb 13 (2 away after)
1997-98: Feb 21

I remember when Drew transfered here and the Memphis fans sought out this board to congratulate us on "getting a good one." Somehow Ive always remembered that specific phrase and maybe didnt realize it until this last summer when stories started coming out about him being SUCH a good guy, religious ambassador, everything... plus he can PLAY!

Lots of other players and teams would probably go into this situation with a chip on their shoulder or a crowd ready to boo, Im doubting we see that happen tonight.

great morning read, thanks

“It was the complete opposite of what I came from,” he (Drew) said. “The coaches were like father figures, the style of play was ball movement and setting screens. I thought, ‘Man, this was the place I want to come to.’”

great fit. not really a guy who creates his own shot but can obviously finish on the receiving end of others' creation, tougher rebounder than he appears.

hope so too gamagin!

Being that the Zags seem to be more efficient with Drew in the lineup, I don't think you should feel dumb at all. If PK and Sam can dominate against Memphis that would be great, but overall efficiency appears to indicate one big at a time works better. My opinion would be that the offense spreads out more and the paint doesn't get clogged. If both are in, maybe let Sam roam a bit out towards 3 pt line. If not, have Barham in raining three's.

I'm hoping Drew's familiarity with the forum rubs off on the rest of the Zags. Just having Drew in his home town should relax everybody. Maybe a nice home cooked meal with Mrs. B could do wonders.

I'm hoping Sam and PK go off and Drew can get everybody else comfortable shooting. Minimize TO's, avoid the 5-7 minute dry spells with way too many empty possessions and the game is there for the taking.
