WCC Tourney in Vegas?

It sure sounds like it.

Jim Meehan wrote a piece on it this morning and, if the numbers make sense, the WCC will be playing in March at the 7000+ seat Orleans Arena. Gonzaga's AD Mike Roth is in favor of it, and Commish Gilleran sounds optimistic. The Orleans is over a mile from the Vegas strip and you park for free, directly enter the arena instead of filing your way a casino to get there.

I would attend in Vegas, I would not attend in cities not named Spokane or Portland (out of the WCC cities). I think Vegas raises the profile of the event, is competetively fair, and convenient. Hopefully it makes financial sense.

The tentative schedule for the WCC games in the summer prospectus says:

It looks like the pre-season tourney in Maui/Hawaii in 2009 (or is it 2010?) and Vegas in 2009 -- 2 road trips.

Considering that cheap flights to Vegas from NY are prevalent, I might be going to some WCC tourney games in the future.

I don't know if the numbers make sense, but its sure alot easier to talk the wife into letting me go if it's across town. And I thought being stationed in Vegas was a curse.

vegas would be awesome...have to think it would be a major draw for people (especialy the college students) to attend

schools just need to get on board with gonzaga in having the tourney be held the first weekend of spring break...most schools dont do that (and Gonzaga often does...not always though)

Man i know when i attended...Vegas would have definitely brought out the devil in a few of us. Could be dangerous But fun!
