Verbal commits is reporting GU has offered Detwon Rogers. With only 1 scholarship left for 2014, makes this a head scratcher.

Muscled up rebounder?

Come in immediately and spell on or two of the bigs, play great d and beat people up on the boards?

He's from College of Southern Idaho - - high level JC basketball, my hometown, I will find out more.

Offer... is offer for official visit... not necessarily a scholly... they might see enough in him to want to take a closer look to see what kind of fit he is. They are not bound to offer him a scholly... they may say after the visit that they don't think it is going to work out.

Great size - a wing or a two? Saw a tweet that he recently had a stress fracture of some sort. Comes from basketball country in NC.

Interesting...wonder if this is reaction to Alberts' health?

He's not really a "Big" prospect. 6'5" 195-ish. More of an athletic rebounding Wing Prospect, I think. Had a great game at NIC last week 24 and 10 with 11/13 from the line. Shooting just under 38% from deep for the season, but that's not really his game. He posts up and penetrates well, & cleans up underneath at CSI. He is more like a small Elias. Can watch him at NIC again on 2-22 if you want.

Hes got the numbers of a good player and in the scheme of things, this does speak to me that not everything is locked up. Either Alberts heath or expecting room (which I hate) is my best guess.

We're talking major athlete here. Dude dunks like he's 6'10". Ferocious! Looks strong like Ira.

So in other words, 7th or 8th man and the first reckless mistake he makes, he'll be buried on the bench and in the doghouse? Sorry, couldn't help it. :p

Agree with this, He's fun to watch. That's why I compared him to Elias. Trying not to Hype, as I'm a "true fisherman" at heart!:o My point was mostly that he's an athletic wing, not a big. He'd compete with Kyle, Colman, and Nunez for PT

What's the play here? I smell a Zag transferring out...

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here! He's just been offered a visit, as a prospective JC graduate. They're not recruiting over anyone yet.-- Not ready to sound any alarms.

Regardless off what the tea leaves may or may not say, the way college basketball is these days, a transfer is a safe bet every year, in my opinion.

Every time I see these non-big offers (especially for the 2014 class), I have to scratch my head. What we need by far and away the most is a high quality big to replace SD, yet we seem to focus recruiting wise everywhere but on that badly needed big. I hope Sabonis is still in the mix, but threads like this always make me wonder.....

Yes. At least he'll give us a presence walking through the airports!

The savior you speak of is named Kyle Wiltjer, and I notice that he just may play for the Zags next season

but yeah, I also agree that we need some more high-caliber bigs, too, especially with how Edwards (played 5 of 12 games since available, only one 10+ min game) and Meikle (played 10 of 19 games, never more than 10+ min any game) are so infrequently utilized...

In comparison, last season, Shem played in 34 of 35 games (didn't play against Wichita State) and had 17 10+ min games (4 games of 20+ min)

I really believe that Edwards would be playing 10-15 MPG, every game, if he had not come down with that illness. It has ruined his season. He's just physically not there and is so behind the curve. It's going to be impossible for him to catch up this year, which is partly why I feel he should've taken a medical redshirt.

I don't see the strong need for a big. We have Shem, Edwards, KW and Meikle to rotate around. Maybe another good 4 would be needed, but I think we have what we need. Edwards will become a major force fo the zags.
