Dayton got some love in the AP (25th).

It is nice, but we are getting some credit for past laurels. I would say objectively we should be in about the 20 to 25 range.

Disagree 77. I believe we're easily top 15. Plus we're only going to get better with the additions of Edwards and Nunez. This team is much better than I thought especially with the way Dranginis has played. Coleman obviously needs more minutes and I think those are coming.

UCLA @ #18 AP/#17 USA Today. Ha Bruins. 7-0 but only one game vs RPI 100 and SOS #213. I think Baylor got jobbed @ #20 in both.

This is a good place to be right now for the Zags. Perfect. Let's keep winning, one game at a time.

I admit I do not keep close track of all this, but has GU beaten any team that was in the Sweet 16 of last years NCAA tournament? I don't think so. I say GU should be ranked around 22 - 25. Beating "pay to play" opponents does not count for anything. Beating "pay to play" opponents is a bit like bragging about your "stud status" after bedding a couple of hookers. I don't think they count.

Go Bulldogs!

Well, we lost to the #25 team who lost to the #20 team. Seems like we are a little high to me, but Ill take it.

'77 is right at this juncture.

I think it all breaks down on how much was paid - not necessarily who paid who. I've never been in the market, but I have heard this is one that no one should "bargain shop."

Seems about right for me - Zags should have beaten Dayton. But, with who the Zags have left to play - I don't really see how the team can go up in the polls - unless they clobber everyone they play.

Zags did pretty well last year by not losing. They just need to take care of business the rest of the year and let the cards fall where they will.

13.#Gonzaga Bulldogs

This is a fabulous offensive team (No. 1-rated offense in KenPom.com) that can really shoot the ball, hitting 55.8 percent from the floor after eight games.#Kevin Pangos#and#Gary Bell Jr.#are truly outstanding lead guards, and Bell is the best perimeter defender. Gonzaga plays three point guards, and can really handle, pass and shoot. However, frontcourt depth is a concern, and#Przemek Karnowski#andSam Dower#must be able to score, rebound and defend without fouling. After six games, Gonzaga is getting outshot and outscored from the foul line, and has a defense rated outside the national top 100. If the Bulldogs cannot improve in those areas against the best teams, Gonzaga will simply have to outscore people.

I'll stick with Jay Bilas.

you will like him for now, while the review is glowing...

i think around 20 feels like the right neighborhood for GU. all those obsessed with rankings will almost certainly get their wish though, as i dont see a ton of losses on the schedule this year. GU should be able to end up in the top 10 with relative ease. seeding in the tournament might be a different story - this is not a strong GU schedule this year. 1 (currently) ranked team on the schedule?

1 (currently) ranked team on the schedule?

2: Memphis & Dayton... and Saint Mary's receiving votes.

i stand corrected, was using the other poll.

either way though, when you need to reach with a third team "receiving votes" you know its not a tough GU schedule

I would say objectively we should be in about the 20 to 25 range.

That seems about right to me. We've played one quality opponent and that opponent exposed our two biggest weaknesses: average rebounding and a lack of frontcourt depth. Until we improve on both aspects of the game, or until we beat a few Top 50 teams, I can't see how this team should be ranked in the Top 20.

He actually moved the Zags up from #25 to #23 in this poll. Polls are popularity contests as long as you keep winning you move up through attrition

Go!! Zags!!!
