Logged 10 secs -- for whatever reason -- at the end of 1st half.

Just like that, RS BURNED.

From whom/where are you hearing that Meikle will indeed redshirt?

worth noting-- it appears triano is likely to redshirt. was in a suit on the bench. unless he's hurt or sick, it seems that's the current disposition.

it was an open question. most never weighed in one way or the other, but lots of us were curious-- simply asking the question "would he?". we have our answer now.

I don't think we can redshirt him because we need his size this season.

I don't think we can redshirt him because we need his size this season.

Is that the thinking? That we need his height? Because we don't know who will develop better between him and Edwards? Just seems a bit strange to burn it when the consensus was that a year in the weight room was exactly what he needed.

It was Meikles call on the redshirt---and he made it----time to move on and support him through the year.

Hoping his game experience and time of the floor will pay dividends if we have one of our bigs jump early to the league next year.

Go Zags!

As we know, a redshirt doesn't have to be in the freshman year. Probably good for him to get a feel for the game this year with whatever minutes he gets and take it from there.

Meikle developing at backup PF is a better option than counting on Barham to man that position, IMO. If he can provide 5-10 serviceable minutes I think Few would be happy. Plus what happens in event of an injury to Dower 10 games in? Start Barham at PF and have Drang backup PF? Just way way too thin at that position and after seeing Karnowski against Bryant we will need all the big bodies we have this year.

I would have liked to see him redshirt this year. But I think we need all the bigs we can get this year. Maybe next year he could take a redshirt.

I understand the reasoning, but it's too bad they're in this situation. I doubt Meikle will be able to help that much this year ... He's listed on Gozags.com as 6-8, 200, and it didn't look to me like he weighs even that much.

A bit surprising but not completely.

A bit surprising but not completely.

Failing to land a replacement big in the off season, it's all hands on deck. As has been demonstrated, he can always rs next year or the year after. One big guy goes down and they'd have to burn the shirt anyway.
