Im going to combine my two favorite threads last year, the "prediction thread" and the "what would you like to see happen" thread.

Gonzaga 100
Bryant 64

I'd like to start the season off with our Ninja shooters. Let's go for the Burger Boys knocking down 10 3's. I think the Zags will dominate in the box. I want to see some Coleman on the fast break, and great 3 pt shooting by guards. No big surprises, just want to see Coleman in a UNI.

I want to see Gary taking the ball to the rim.

I want to see Sam and Karno rebounding.

I think that I will write those two things about every single game this year.

Coleman will start or at least, should start. The Karno/Dower combo should score about 30+ and get 12+ rebounds. The Pangos/Bell combo should score 30+ and get about 10+ assists. That leaves about 40+ pts for anyone else.

Pangos I want consistency in his shooting.

Bell to be physically all clear

Bryant made the jump from D2 to D1 last year & improved from 2 to 19 wins. Their RPI was 167, just behind USD (158) & USF (164). They have 6'2" Jr. guard Dyami Starks who avg. 17.7 last yr. & shot .408 from 3 and 6'6" Sr forward Alex Francis that avg. 17.4 & 8.6 RPG. Blue Ribbon picks him to be Conf. POY. Should have over 2000 pts & 1000 boards by the end of his career. They have 3 6'8" kids, but 2 are Frosh. Big Zag advantage on the frontline.

like the exhibition, my expectations are in check. still clearing cobwebs and shaking rust, figuring out sets and assignments, scoring Im thinking will be pretty similar to Simon Fraiser. Probably a few less for Coleman and hopefully a few more for Pangos and Bell just to make sure they are tuned up and ready to be consistent.

Karnowski and Dower foul out in first quarter. Because Edwards redshirts, Barham's knee is injured, and Nunoz can't go yet, it forces us to use Stockton at Center.

Stocton FINALLY gets a chance to show that even though he is 5'9ish he CAN dunk it with both hands...niiiiice.

Zags prevail in quite the offensive show 103- 78

Is there a possibility someone will be streaming this game for those of us GU fans who are not in the viewing area? It would be much appreciated.

I've been doing a little reading about Bryant U. They're not as bad as I thought they were. And one article I read said they may be a tournament team this year. So now I'm looking for a much closer game. Maybe Gonzaga by 20, maybe 15. And Edwards is out, Barham not up to full speed? Gu offense will have to lead the way.

No pushover. this'll be a contested game. A lot closer than many think. Of course, it's the first game for both. Anything can happen. They have plenty of talent though.

what I would like to see
Sam down lower and quicker on defense, and not be so predictable going to his left on offense (even people who don't know much about the team know this about Sam)
Gary Bell drive into the lane and make good passes - I would love to see GBJ looking to increase his assists, esp. passing on the move
PK get the momentum going on shooting better free throws, set up that momentum for the whole season
Coleman as a team first player - I expect that will happen

what I fear - Sam peaked a few years ago and cannot improve his defense (maybe like Ammo, his attitude about stepping up defense is good, but his body won't do it)
also I fear that Kyle D. has peaked
I hope both guys will prove me wrong

I expect Karnage to get much better this season, and Pangos and Gary to continue an improvement trend they are on
I expect Luke to improve tremendously this year also
Zags by 15 today

Zags win by 19.

Want to see them exit the contest HEALTHY. . .don't care who fills up the box score, get the W and move on to the next one.

It is just a good thing to start the season. It has been too long. I'm hoping my boy Kevin has an impactful game, points, assists and point pressure. I look forward to The Coleman "Lantern" lighting it up as well.

GO ZAGS!!!

Gotta give Bryant some credit. They played hard and have two pretty talented players. They certainly did not try to slow it down. GU was ahead by 30 with ten min to play. I'd say GU took their foot off the throttle after the ten minute mark. Their defense (Gonzaga's) was good. For most of the game it was very good. Don't just look at the final score. I'm not worried about the D (accept for PK). Dower played great defense on Francis, who's a very good player, holding him to 13 points. The pace of the game was extremely fast. Both teams were up and down the court at a rapid pace all game long. Thus, such a high scoring game. Bryant scored 35 points in the last 10 minutes. Starks had 17 points in the last 7 minutes. I'd say it was more GU backing off of Bryant more then Bryant really being that good (good enough to score 76 pts on GU's defense).

I got the 100 points correct. Does that count???? hahaha

I watched the game over this morning. I like Drew Barham's game. 3 for 4 from the 3 pt line. Also thought Coleman played great. 15 pts. I like our bench players alot. There's 24 right there, and then throw in Dranginis' 9 and yu have 33 pts off the bench. Let's hope these three can continue to play like they did last night.
