    A Preseason Prayer

    Many of you know me as an hedonist infidel, but this time of year I like to offer a little prayer for the success of our team.

    Dear God, please help our team:

    Bless our Bulldogs as they begin their quest for glory;
    Elevate our players to achieve greatness;
    Assist our Fans as they cheer the team to glory; and
    Thank those who assist our team.

    Thou art compassionate toward those who are injured;
    Healing those who sacrifice their bodies for the game; while
    Exaulting all who support us with courage and vigor.

    Purity is a virtue of our team and fans;
    Onward we press toward total victory;
    In his name we pray and wait;
    Never shall we feel fear or despair; and
    Together we shall face the challenge to come.

    Surely we can all join together to celebrate the new season;
    Putting aside our differences of opinion;
    Rejoicing in the beauty of competition and strength;
    Enjoying the challenges of this new beginning;
    As we join together; and
    Delight in all that is to come.

    Amen
    Do not go gentle into that good night,
    Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
    Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

          As Mark Few once told me, the most important part of fishing is to keep the fly on top of the water.

          Go Bulldogs!
          Do not go gentle into that good night,
          Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
          Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
