Other WCC "secret" scrimmages:

Oct. 26: Arizona State at Saint Mary’s
Oct. 26: Sacramento State at San Francisco
Oct. 26: Loyola Marymount at Cal State Northridge
Oct. 26: Pepperdine at Cal State Bakersfield

The funniest thing about that list is that St. Mary's won't even go on the road to play a scrimmage.

But Gaels are getting the best competition of any WCC team to scrimmage them. Arizona is a Top 10 team

Great scrimmages for the Gaels, no doubt. Just strikes me as funny that they are so allergic to the road.

It's just a couple scrimmages. At least some good teams wanted to spar off against them.

Arizona St has a good chance at playing in the NCAA tournament this year and Arizona could very well be a #1 seed this year.

Thursday, Nov. 1

Stanford at St. Mary's

Either way, those are some solid teams to scrimmage against. I'd almost think those guys want to travel for the scrimmages, just to get in the mindset of playing on the road (sleeping in a hotel, etc.).

SMC did play at ASU 2 years ago, so maybe this is the return game (http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/26283066/32936599)

Will K. Wiltjer be in on the scrimmages you think? as far as I know he can play in them, but should he? Seems like these are good primer games for this years team and having him in would mean less time for the others that are eligible this year.

Kyle Wiltjer and Angel Nunez cannot play in scrimmages for Gonzaga against outside competition until they have completed their redshirt years:

That's a good get for SMC. Good for them.

I am sure there is a reason, so if anyone knows. . .Why would we not play Texas at UT one year and then here another year? Wouldn't that save the programs money? Is it a matter of keeping it "off the radar" that makes both teams playing out of town beneficial?

I can't tell if this is sarcasm, but no it will not. It's a scrimmage, not a real game. Just like how NFL teams will run joint practices/scrimmages in the preseason and they don't get a win/loss or accumulate stats.

Personally, I don't think these scrimmages are just two 20 minute halves. I think they run several games over the course of a day to get all players involved. That's why reports usually give us a vague review of how it went but no concrete score (which I couldn't care less about, anyway).

"Heard from a reliable source that the Gaels won each of the 10 minute sessions against ASU this past weekend. Gaels started slow but were impressive thereafter. Waldow held his own against ASU'S 5 and Guisti defended Carson, their top guard, pretty well. "
