Looks like GU has made an offer to Sandy Cohen out of Seymour High in Seymour, Wisconsin (http://homeofthehamburger.org/) (small town outside Green Bay it looks like).

Anyone have any information? Can anyone verify? Seems to have a lot of interest and getting more. It appears GU would be a long-shot with Marquette and Minnesota leading.

Looks like GU offered on the 7th.

By the look of the photos here (http://247sports.com/Player/Sandy-Cohen-31793), it appears he's also a long jumper.

Depends on whether he wants to stay close to home, or not. Either way, Marquette and Wisconsin are tough to recruit against, regardless.

Plus, not too many Jewish kids want to play for a Catholic school. Reisman and Amaya are the only ones that I can think of, and they both transferred.

Pretty impressive kid. Here's a more recent highlight video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMsVx3KVR6s).

He's going to play at Peach Jam on the Wisconsin Playground Elite team.

Hope Fewie gets him to visit.

From a report on the Minneapolis EYBL (http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1509531):

Any player that likes scoring easy baskets and pushing up their point totals should sign up to play with Sandy Cohen. This unselfish point guard has the quick handles to separate and the strength to edge the corner. Sandy consistently gets lane and when he does his focus is always dropping off assists to cutting teammates. If you cut to the rim when Sandy draws the help he will find you with a dime nearly 100 percent of the time.

kids got some stretch to him. Long arms, high release, high arc, court awareness, goes inside... someone is going to get a good one with him.

Did they just copy Kyle Dranginis' high school footage?

Dustin Villepigue.

But the player who can help Simi Valley pull off an upset is improving 6-9 sophomore Dustin Villepigue. (Attention Maccabi Games organizers: Villepigue might be the most-promising Jewish center this side of Israel.)

now a NYS Supreme Court Justice...

a contemporary from NYC who played at Duke was King Arthur Heyman, who was a close 2d to BK. Larry Brown is in the convo too.

Then there was Tamir Goodman, the so-called "Jewish Jordan." He ended up fulfilling half of that moniker in that he was definitely Jewish. The Jordan half? Not so much...

Yup, you're right, I meant him, not Amaya. My bad. I'm getting old.

I remember him; was a Maryland commit, but transferred to Towson and fizzled out. Jordan Farmar is a very good Jewish baller; we almost got him too.

Best Jewish basketball player?

Nope. It's Art Heyman of Duke. Their first big all-american. Put Duke on the map. First pick in the NBA draft. Died too soon.

I'm not sure if this was posted but Sandy Cohen signed with the hated Marquette Gold.

I think it's interesting that Wisconsin didn't even call him. Usually a local kid merits a phone call.
