FYI...

Just read this article on "Insider" and didn't say anything positive or negative about KO except that he participated in the drills but nothing of note.

Kansas' Jeff Withey (29), France's Rudy Gobert (29.5), Gonzaga's Kelly Olynyk (29.5) and Florida's Erik Murphy (29.5) were the only four players whose jumps came in under 30 inches.

In the three-quarter-court sprints, Larkin led the way again with a 3.08-second run. Georgia's Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Missouri's Phil Pressey finished second and third, respectively, at 3.12 and 3.13 seconds. Gonzaga's Olynyk finished last at 3.59 seconds.

The only two potential lottery picks who didn't test well were Olynyk and France's Rudy Gobert. Olynyk was a little bit of a surprise because he moves so well for a big man. Gobert is so long and tall that his lack of elite athleticism shouldn't really hurt him.

From what I hear, the numbers can help you more than they hurt you. KO definitely didn't help himself with the measured values, but I read that he played very well in the actual basketball portion.

I doubt anyone picking between 10-20 have changed their opinion on him.

A photo slide show from NBA.com, 78 pics and KO was in 4-5 of them. Many of the pics were of suits, so a pretty impressive showing there. He was in 2 of the first 5, I think. I looked last night, and its hard to keep track in my head.
Somebody seems to like Kelly!

Interesting about Withey. He's always seemed to jump really well in games. I guess he's a great example of timing when it comes to shot blocking as he is measured identically with KO in height (reach is 2 inches more)

who is (if I heard correctly) the voice of the pacers with a long history of involvement.

He contended the combine does very little for the selection process, fwiw. He said the keys are the athlete's season long performance.

He said (paraphrasing) "It doesn't really matter if a fellow can shoot 10-10 from somewhere on the field with no one guarding him." He went on to say that's pretty much the same with all the drills. They seldom involve actual performance under one on one pressure like in real life and like in the NBA.

Made sense. KO's body of work earned him a 1st team AA. And clearly it wasn't for his standing leaps.

It can help your stock rise if you have an Al Davis type owner in the NBA.
