Should be halfway to his PhD by the time he gets a real job.

has been highly touted by both local (Omaha) press and other journalists who follow the MVC as one of the smartest players in the country. He may be a bit of a broken down player at this point, with many injuries, etc. He aspires to being a coach as a profession, and should be a really good one. I am not sure what the NCAA will say to his attempt to play yet another year. However if he is permitted to do so, Creighton will be that much better in 2013-14. What they lack at present is a replacement for Gregory Echinique. He was a beast for them in many games. No doubt those pink shoes he wore are not going to be easily filled. Still Jays should compete for one of the three top spots in the New Catholic Big East, with or without Mr. Gibbs.

"The NCAA has approved Creighton guard Grant Gibbs' appeal for a sixth year of eligibility, the school announced on Tuesday.

"Gibbs spent two seasons at Gonzaga before transferring to Creighton for his final two years. However, he redshirted his first season at Gonzaga, but also suffered an injury that wouldn't have allowed him to play. During his mandated one-year redshirt after transferring, Gibbs had knee surgery that would have prevented him from suiting up anyway."
