A Sweet 16 or Elite 8 might've put him over the top, or avoiding that loss at Butler. Depends on when vote was taken.

All three were deserving, but the #1 ranking and a reshirt turned first team all-american sure scream coach of the year to me.

Ballots were due Selection Sunday.

He couldn't get the votes from the Forum...

This was the press voting (AP). It would not surprise me if M. Few is the National Association of Basketball Coaches' coach of the year. This same group chose Don Monson (Idaho) COY in 1982 and Phil Martelli from St. Joe's in 2004.

I heard Few was leading late, then he slowed it way down. :(

I kid, I kid. ;)

I'd have picked Few before him. Few is more deserving. Few should have won it in my opinion, if the ballots were due on Selection Sunday.

On some level, finishing 3rd is almost more flattering for the program than if he had won. It shows that some media members were that surprised by the team's success this season. Outsiders expectations of this program are fairly high.

Larranaga stepped in some magic doo doo. Inherited a veteran team and a superb pt guard. Still they were pretenders all year yet inexplicably hyped by the national hoops experts. Don't look for the Hurricanes at the top of any polls anytime soon.
