Since 1980, Rick Pitino is 40-15 in NCAA tournament games. This year’s Louisville team is the 16th team coach Pitino has guided to the Big Dance. In 28 years as a college basketball head coach, Pitino has played in nine Sweet 16 games. In all nine of those Sweet 16 appearances, Rick Pitino and his team advanced to the Elite 8. Not only has Pitino never lost a game in the round of 16, but the average margin of victory in those nine games is 23.

In your face defense.

Questionable ethics and a penchant for white suits.

Not sure if the trade-off is worth it.

....it would seem that "in your face defense" is the only thing missing for us. Hmmm.....and to preclude anyone from misinterpreting, which NEVER happens, that means we don't have to worry about ethics or white suits issues, so the in your face defense is not too much to ask.

Plus 1 on the banging a groupie in a restaurant
Plus 1 paying to get it "taken care of"
Plus 1 getting extorted and bringing embarrassment to the school and program.

Something to be proud of as long as he keeps winning.

I will take the whole package, winning plus giving back to the community.

The guy's a total scumbag; he cheated on his wife, knocked up his mistress and forced her to get an abortion. I'll take Few over him every day of my life.

Maybe coach K or coach Wooden's records would have been a better use of performance indicators, since apparently your point is getting lost. I guess winning in the the NCAA tourney simply cannot be achieved by any other type of coach than the "scumbag type."

Maybe they are right. I think I"ll teach my kids that sweeping generalizations are completely acceptable in public debate.

I was merely marveling at Pitinos sweet 16 record, not laying the groundwork for canonization. That will come shortly from the HOF. His character is suspect, of course, but I wouldn't put him in Caliparis or Calhouns class. They cheated the game. Ricks cheating is personal. Sigh.
