Not sure if this has been reported here but Hoopdirt (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/5293354b/cal-state-northridge-rumors/)is reporting that Donnie Daniels is a finalist for the head job at Cal State Northridge. HoopDirt is the go to site for coaching job news.

My apologies if this was already posted.

Daniels would be a big loss. I hope there is no exodus our our staff, but money talks no matter what.

I don't think money is the selling point. Daniels can probably make more as an assistant at Gonzaga than he will as a head coach here at CSUN. Braswell made ~$240,000 but it took him 16 years to get that much.

Wow.....we could potentially lose 2 assistant coaches, that would be tough.

I hope this does not affect our recruiting of Perkins.

Just as with Ray, good for him if he gets it, but bummer for us. The curse of successful programs is that other teams want to hire our excellent assistants, as we've seen with Bill and Leon.

Few has taken that over. I think Perkins was originally Tommy's guy, anyway.

However, there are a number of 2014 California kids (Malik Pope, Namon Wright, Kameron Chatman, Isaiah Bailey) that maybe Donny's. I know Pope is, but again, it may have reached the point where Few has taken over.

If GU loses anyone of these guys, I wouldn't be surprised if they go outside the family and bring in a defensive specialist who is an elite recruiter. With the AP #1 ranking and number one seed, the prestige of a seat on the Gonzaga coaching bench has gone up.

This would be my wish!

Wow! Daniels too. I think it's an honor to every head coach to have his assistants take on head coaching positons at other universities. I really like Daniels and if he is hired I want to wish him all the luck in the world.

Why would Giacoletti and Daniels leave then? Good assistant coaches don't care about what rankings/seeds we get, especially when we proved to be overrated. Too many people are trying to ignore or greatly downplay the impact of this loss, IMO.

Why would they leave? Presumably because they'd like to be head coaches, or possibly for the money.

Umm...they used to be head coaches, and most head coaches want to be a head coach again.....

Just spoke to GU assistant Donny Daniels, who has been listed as a finalist at Cal State Northridge. Says he'd be interested in job, but ...

... hasn't spoken with CSN administrators and hasn't applied for the job. Daniels was head coach at Fullerton 01-03, another Big West school

Sounds like the proverbial politician's denial before the confessional press conference to me... (Just kidding :))
