A magical season for the Bulldogs comes to an end. Wichita to LA, Bulldogs to Spokane. The Bulldogs head off the floor dejected, defeated. They (WSU) were 2 out of 20 shooting threes on Thursday, they shot 50% from three tonight. Zags didn't shoot the ball well, the Shockers made em pay at every turn. The season will go down as 32-3. Santangelo-I have no idea what just happened but this will go down as a successful season. Olynyk, Harris and Pangos in double figures. The Shockers just made big shot after big shot. The Zags had a couple mental breakdowns late and the Shockers made them pay. WSU hit 10 of their last 15 shots. The third loss of the season is the most painful, just a crushing loss. (Won't be a lot of flow to this-just typing it as Hudson and Santangelo talk). It was physical, it was WSU style of game, but GU was good on the boards the whole game. Ray G on-We were able to get some stops the first 7 minutes of the second half, we got some flow to our offense. You gotta move the ball on an athletic team like that. We got up to 8 ahead, but they had some guys step up and hit some threes, guys that weren't good three point shooters till tonight. You try to digest what just happened after as good a ride as GU has had. We had a tough turnover, David wasn't even suppposed to be the guy taking the ball in. It's just tough to swallow right now. Bell did something right before half time, Jen looked at him and he tried to go, but he just couldn't get loose. Few-we had an unbelievable year, one helluva ride. Kelly-they had a pretty good game plan that seemed to work. They set some screens, I should have closed harder on them, gotta give it up to them, they made some big shots. Harris-It is what it is, it hurts. Hart-it's pretty rough right now we came up short of what we were looking for. We lost some shooters on the defensive end, we defended well at the beginning of the second half, but we just lost some guys. Few-Bell came at half and said he foot was bothering him, it wasn't his ankle, it was his foot, we'll have to get it evaluated when we get home. It didn't help us losing him, he's our best perimiter defender. The inbounds play was a miscommunication, it was a bad time for that to happen, but it was the defensive breakdowns that hurt us. The officials are trying their best to enforcing the high elbow, which is meant to harm, but it is a really really bad rule. You can't play basketball without touching someone in the face. Coaches are teaching their kids to get up into their opponent and the elbows are touching the face. You can tell an intentional or flagrant foul versus an inadvertant elbow. There are a lot of really really good teams out there. We are not a real athletic team, but we are intelligent and play well as a team. Wichita St is a really really hot team right now and that's the kind of thing that happens in this tournament, if you get hot at the right time and get on a roll. Bells injury, Wichita making all those big threes, mental errors, all those things conspired to make this a loss. But that's why they play this game between four lines those kinds of things happens. It just hurts when you're this close to a program. Thjat pretty much covers it!
