Armstead 205

Here's the key...Played Creighton 3 times. Creighton's tough and they played them tough. Creighton's McDermott is a shooting guard,(Meaning if) both Pangs and Bell light it up..this games GU's.... It appears...They struggle with "D" on the perimeter

GU needs to hit the boards and muscle up on their front line!

Lost 65-68
Lost 79-81
Won 67-64

Played Indy State

Lost 55-68

Beat Depaul...so?

I see nothing on their resume indicating the Zags should struggle tomorrow!

Although these guys a big...real big and tough, (big guards) and can rebound like crazy.

7-5 away from home

5-1 at home

Your thoughts?

kelly should dominate, harris may struggle again. The guy is same size as him. But, I think we should win.

This round of 32 in the Big Dance- EVERY team has a power forward the same size as Harris.

This is an opportunity to show what he ( Harris) can do and senior leaders rise to the occasion.

Olynyk is bigger- so by this reasoning he should dminate.

I think our seniors will lead by example today and get the team tracking EARLY !

I respect what W.S. has done this year, and their win over Pitt was awesome.

But if you allow yourself to play the transitive property game, GU>>>SMC>Creighton>><W.S.

flaws in the thinking notwithstanding, I still think we match up well with them in most areas of the floor, but the front line is in for a brawl and the guards and Hart are going to have to limit penetration.

I love our chances though.

All I know is I much prefer teams from the power conferences to these guys.
What with BCS fans coming over to tell us who they have played and how much better they are. Wichita is going to be coming out to prove something to the world and that is a dangerous mentality. That said I like GU's focus and mentality as well GO ZAGS!!!!

I was hoping to go without hearing a prediction that we were going to be one of the upsets today. But,

Sure enough, Dickie V. just talked about VCU over Michigan and watch out for Wichita against the Zags......

I think we had best get used to the fact that in every game we play the rest of the season (one to five) there will be people predicting our demise from here on in.

I hope we win by 20.

Maybe sounds silly, but I think we need to shoot well (I know, duh). Some teams we can shoot poor initial shots and make up for it with Off boards and putbacks, but no question that the boards will be a war. Whether we win them or Wich St does, I don't think either team will dominate them, esp. offensively. I think to counteract their prowess on the boards, we need to take good looks and flat out hit our shots.

Also, fouls will play a big role. They seem to be big on the dribble-drive: we need to rotate well and not be late on the rotation. Don't put them on the line 30 times, or whatever Pitt did. If we do, it's over. OTOH, we're undoubtedly deeper and more skilled inside than they are. If we can get their bigs in foul trouble, things will go well. I look to see a lot of KO getting the ball on the perimeter for a pass or drive or maybe a pick and roll.

Great post.

Situation seems tailor made for Olynick and Dower who both have a pentient for simply being able to hit near-mid range shots.

Wichita is going to be coming out to prove something to the world and that is a dangerous mentality.

some teams play to prove something to doubters and haters and some play for themselves and each other. i'll take an internally motivated team over an externally motivated one any day. but if all else fails i think talent and match ups give us the edge here.
