I really want to see Baylor get hot and hopefully win out and make some noise in their conference tourney. Maybe they could squeak into the RPI top 50 with a nice run.

So, it would seem we would be cheering for:

Penn St - - not bloody likely to even be close
Virgnia Tech - - See above
SMC - Obviously
UCONN - Just to muddy up the Big East

Plus we would be for all the teams we have played so far?

That right?

Baylor is currently RPI 64-- West Virginia is RPI 104-- Baylor would have to make some very big strides to push their RPI sub 50---- but West Virginia might be able to get to a sub 100 RPI for us.

I would like to see another top 50 win-- but I would be good with another top 100 win also.

Losing to a team 0-14 in conference in late February is NOT the way to lock up a #1 seed.

Marquette’s Win Over Syracuse Tightens Big East Race
Published: February 25, 2013

Davante Gardner scored a career-high 26 points and No. 22 Marquette beat No. 12 Syracuse, 74-71, on Monday to tighten the race at the top of the Big East. Host Marquette (20-7, 11-4) moved into second place, a half-game behind No. 7 Georgetown and a half-game ahead of No. 10 Louisville. Syracuse (22-6, 10-5), which has lost three of five, dropped into a tie for fourth with No. 21 Notre Dame.

Trust me, in HoyaLand they are praying for a #2 seed in the NCAA's and their resume just isn't going to get them to a #1 ranking nor seeding. If they'd won a game against a ranked Gators (game got cancelled at the half due to moisture on an open air court on the USS Bataan (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/8687626/georgetown-hoyas-florida-gators-resume-canceled-game)with Hoyas down by 4) they might have more quality wins to show by now.

Yes, one of the reasons why Uber says Zags should pull for GU up until the conference tourney. Zags do not want UL to win out in conference and the conference tourney. UL with a BEast title in the both the conference and the tourney could vault them to a 1. Plus, just because of style and experience, Uber thinks UL would have a better shot of winning the tourney than GU East.

Michigan was up by 15 at 66-51 with 10:19 left and Penn State went on a 23-8 run to tie it at 74 with 4:58 to play. Six of Penn State's possessions in that span were three point possession (whether by making a three, getting an and-one, or in one case getting fouled shooting a three and making all the free throws)

Michigan only had 4 points in the last 6:37 of the game, and they were all free throws.

Michigan would be the 5 seed if the Big Ten tournament started today I read.

SMC playing in an away game where there are maybe 1,300 people, and it's so quiet that at one point you could hear one girl trying to start a "Let's go Waves" chant all by herself. It makes me realize that SMC is gifted at least one win a year by the fact that they get to play away games with absolutely no hostility whereas GU faces a hostile crowd every away game in the WCC. That one game would have helped last year.

Mich going down is good news for Zags.

Agreed. Hoyas have no seniors on the team this year, and the freshmen always have a major adjustment when it comes to JT III's system. As things stand, both GU East and L'ville have bye's in the first two rounds of the Big East tournament. Bracket projection: http://www.cardchronicle.com/2013/2/25/4028102/2013-big-east-tournament-bracket-update

The only argument that would favor any team from the Big East getting seeded at #1 would be that it was winner of both the regular season and conference tournament. And possibly, even with all that, there'd need to be more losses for others currently in contention for #1 seeds.

Sidenote: Because the East regional is being held at D.C.'s Verizon Center, Hoyas at any seeding can't be fed into a bracket that would land them at their home court. Another consideration for a Selection Committee as it tries to extend friendly geography to #1 seeds.

The conference streak is what I was frustrated about. I am sure you could understand that seeing that with that one win, this year would have given GU the longest conference winning streak in NCCA history. And as a USF fan, I am sure you can understand why making history means so much (and that isn't a slam...USF has won championships and GU hasn't). I also respect SMC and feel they deserve some hostility. They wiped the floor with Pepp last night on their home floor...that ought to earn a team some hostility.

Good luck in Vegas,

Psychozag
