What are the odds Kyle Wiltjer is a Zags in 2015?

I'm putting the odds at 90%.

I think I just discovered the most illogical comment ever posted on this board.

i live in kentucky territory and it would not suprise me at all to see wiltjer in a zag uniform. i see every wildcat game, except when the zags are playing at the same time, and his body language just says he is not happy. his playing time will diminish next year as well. he may stay ay kentucky but it will suprise me if he does.

Perhaps he will transfer, with 5 mcdonalds AA's coming in. But, what are the odds he ends up a Zag? Odd say 90% is fairly optimistic. We might have a chance because he's from Portland and we recruited him before. But we have a few players at the 3/4 already and I'd guess the staff is looking at guards and an extra 5 for when dower leaves.

[QUOTE=Ekrub;872587] But, what are the odds he ends up a Zag?

Have seen little of Kyle's time at UK. Some reviews, however, indicate uneven offensive play and little demonstrated defensive prowess. This, after two years at a strong national program. Would Zags still want him?

What we don't have for next year , and what we need most for next year, is an athletic, big, tough as nails 4, to replace Harris. A big who is soft and prone to floating around the three point line (i.e., Wiltjer) is just not a priority for this team right now.

You never know. After a red shirt year he helps replace Silky Smooth and possibly Chili Con Karno.

Keep an eye on it.

I would'nt give odds that Wiljer ends up here at G.U. However. if you have watched Kentucky at all?, especially over the last two weeks?, it's obvious he is not a happy camper. Kyle was/is a great shooter, with decent athleticism, and more holes in his floor game, than the talking heads realized? Mark Few, Brad Stevens, Shaka Smart, for example, are Coaches who by circumstance/choice?, have been forced to take kids of his ilk and turn them into the "complete package", in some cases?, resulting in an NBA ready player. Coach Cal, on the other hand has always been the consumate recruiter/ facilitator, a Pied Piper, willing to take any kid with athleticism, adequate basketball skills, and belief that they are destined for hoops stardom and give them Maximum exposure on the biggest stage that he can provide. My opinion is that he does not have the time or the inclination to work with most kids that end up at Gonzaga, VCU, and Butler. In the end, how much slack rabid Wildcat fans are willing to cut Cal?, after missing the dance a season or two?, may prove the interesting question?

I think Wiltjer transfers at the end of the season and I see no reason why we wouldn't be near the top of his list, in fact I could probably make a pretty decent list of all the reasons why he would want to come here.

He's getting 25 min. a game this year for Kentucky...

And Cal loves to have a vet out there with his young guys.

Patrick Paterson, Josh Harrellson, Darius Miller, ect.

Wiltjer will be the next 4 year Kentucky guy that Cal gives big minutes to to keep the freshmen in check

Who's Kyle Wiltjer?

He's a Sophomore at Kentucky. When choosing his college his final two was between Kentucky and Gonzaga and he chose Kentucky. He's good friends with Kevin Pangos and stuff so I think a lot of Gonzaga fans think he'll transfer for whatever reason.

Wiltjer is a more skilled offensive player than he has the opportunity to show in Kentucky's offense imo. That's based on having seen him play at Jesuit and in international play. I think if there's truth to this, the staff would take him in a heartbeat.

Watching him run the pick and roll/pick and pop with Pangos was a thing of beauty.

I think he can be at least decent on defense, though I haven't watched Ky more than a few minutes this year. Blocked about 6 shots against a good team in the Oregon state champ game.

I think it's interesting that he and Hart and Holt all played together at Jesuit. NOBODY would have guessed at the time that between top 20 recruit Wiltjer and completely off-the-radar Hart that Hart would be starting on a Top 5 team and garnering more national attention from the pundits.

Honestly would have preferred that Ryan Spangler had not left. Would take Spangler's gritty toughness over Wiltjer's finesse any day of the week.

Don't agree?

Just watch next year.

Edit: For those that don't know, Spangler was the "4" that GU "settled" on when Wiltjer's opted for UK.

I think the odds are closer to Samhan taking a job as the Ronald McDonald's clown, no wait, those odds are too high. On second thought, your odds appear more accurate.

I sure wouldn't want our showing interest in Wiltjer to affect Malik Pope's interest in us! I think we are looking like a team Malik might want to play for. Hope the staff is talking with him every chance. That is the kind of long, athletic 3/4 we need to pick up in 2014 (maybe a pure PF by then). Our schedule will sure look appealing with that Pre-season tourney to start things off. I like our chances with Pope. Wiltjer wouldn't play next year anyways so 2014 is his target season. Wiltjer would have made a difference for us last year especially (and maybe this), but I think the time has passed for Kyle here, if we could get Malik Pope. Wish him the best, but it's too late now. Sorry!

This. He's way too slow...And has absolutely zero defense...decent shooter that needs too expand his game and figure out a few go to post moves...not needed at Gonzaga

With that said...he will probably be a Zag

Hard enough to speculate on recruits, nevermind transfers. I don't know much about him other than his team got beat by 30 pts today.

I DO know that a lot of things being said about his game are the same things that some might have said about Olynick two years ago. Wherever KW's future is, the question would seem to be is he willing to put the work in that KO did? Doubt it, it takes a special person.

Zags have done pretty good looking north for players. Zags might find a young Hart wannabee in a hockey league! And I mean that in no way offensively to Hart. I don't worry much about the Zags when Hart's on the floor. Would like to see him shoot more though :-)
Go Zags!
