This could be one of my best birthdays ever. My wife gave me a new Gonzaga ball cap and personalized plates that say "GO ZAGS." Finally something good about living in Texas - my guess is those plates are already taken in Washington.

In Texas "ZAGS" was already taken. Found out though that next month another letter is being added, so for any Texas fan, "GONZAGA" will soon be available.

The "GONZAGA" plate hasn't been available in Washington for 24 years. :)

Someone did offer me $1,500 if I would give it up and turn it over to them. Not a chance.

Happy birthday!

One advantage of a Go Zags license plate in Texas - over a Gonzaga one is that if the team suffers an embarrassing defeat and someone is taunting you about it, you can say "I have no idea what you are talking about, a gozags is my favorite type of chimichanga - - what, you haven't heard of them? well - you must not be a real Texan" And walk away. To win a fight/argument in Texas one only needs to establish that the other person is less Texan, fight over - more Texas wins.

Except that little disagreement at the Alamo, the more Texans didn't win that one.

If you live in Washington and you are a Gonzaga alum, you can get one of these:

Some years back I applied for Washington vanity plates "GOZAGS" along with a second and third choice should my first choice already taken. My first choice was taken, my second was not. I have been driving with "GOHZAGS" since then. You better be a good driver, and not hold up any banks. Your plate number is easy to memorize (LOL)!

You don't have to have any ties to Gonzaga at all to get those plates, just have to pay $40 on top of regular licensing fees ($30 to renew).

That's good. Unfortunately, I live in the great state of Oregon, where such plates do not exist and most vanity variations of "Go Zags" are taken.

Felix Compleaņos. I understand that in Texas "It's all fun 'n games 'till someone gits hurt." So enjoy and don't git hurt.

You have it almost right. The actual saying is "It's all fun'n games 'till some'n gits shot"

But, they mean the same thing and it is easy for non-Texas to make the mistake.

I stand corrected. On the playground at St Anne's in Beaumont, the sisters frowned on talk of gunplay. Is that a second amendment issue or a first amendment issue, or both?

I moved to Oregon and had to lose my plates in Alaska. Had these plates 9 years.

Still am sad in fact. Oregon costs hundreds more for personalized plates.

If someone gets hurt most good ol' boys then think it's hysterical!

GO ZAGS and Happy Birthday
