Katz article regarding Catholic League's need for a commish

Here is an interesting thought from Andy Katz regarding the need for a commissioner for the new Catholic league:

Andy Katz sits down with Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan to talk about his decision to announce his pending retirement.

    3. The Big East's departing seven Catholic, non-FBS schools are working on an exit plan, a television deal (sources continue to say Fox has an inside track) and ultimately a commissioner. The current commish who would be a fit is the West Coast Conference's Jamie Zaninovich. He has managed a private-school conference well of late and worked at Princeton, so he is not foreign to the Northeast. He had to deal with expansion in adding BYU and, next season, Pacific. Zaninovich already has contacts in the television industry and credibility within the NCAA tournament selection committee as a member. The committee might need to be lobbied to ensure an automatic berth once the league is formed.
If Zaninovich were to be chosen, would this help bolster the GU's case (if they wanted to) for GU to move to the new conference?

Why not merge with existing WCC and make one Super League with east and west divisions?

Apples and Brooklyn Bridges, LIZF. No one at Times, News, Post, et al cares about WCC beyond Zags.

It is undoubtedly about the money. Problem was that the football schools were chasing different money than the basketball schools at the basketball schools' expense.
