Look for a quick call up from the Lakers.

KBergCBS: Howard and Gasol will not travel with the team this week to Houston and San Antonio. Howard will be re-examined in a week.

Yup.

Robert Sacre will be called up from the D-League to start at center. Unsure if Jamison, MWP, Clark, Ebanks will start at the 4
If they call Rob up, does that mean he's guaranteed with the Lakers for the season? I think today is the last day for the team to waive players.

I thought it was the 10th, but either way, he's been playing well in the D League and should last 3 days to make it through the 10th, unless the Laker's really don't want him. I can't believe that to be true!

I can't believe that to be true! From a recent story in the LA Times (http://www.latimes.com/sports/basketball/nba/lakers/la-sp-lakers-fyi-20130102,0,4505969.story?track=rss):
Sacre might have something more personal to celebrate soon. His $474,000 salary becomes guaranteed if he is still with the Lakers on Jan. 10. If the team intended to cut Sacre, it would need to request waivers on him by 2 p.m. PST Monday.

The same goes for fellow rookie Darius Johnson-Odom, who has spent most of this season in the Development League.

looks like he will get an opportunity to log some significant minutes!

Gasol, Howard, and Hill all out- that leaves Big Rob and Jamison up front.:D

Looks like Rob is good for the season (http://www.hoopsrumors.com/):

The Lakers have waived Darius Johnson-Odom, the team announced today in a press release. Johnson-Odom was one of two Lakers on non-guaranteed deals, along with Robert Sacre. Given the injury woes plaguing the team's frontcourt, Sacre's job appears safe.

Johnson-Odom, 23, was drafted 55th overall in last June's draft, with a pick L.A. acquired from the Mavericks in exchange for cash. The Marquette product didn't see much action for the Lakers, failing to score his first NBA point in four games (six total minutes).

The move opens up a roster spot for the Lakers, which may be useful -- with Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol, and Jordan Hill all ailing, the club could decide to bring in a big man on a 10-day contract. For now though, the move is just about today's guarantee deadline, rather than clearing a spot for another player, tweets Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLosAngeles.com.

I hope he gets "Nashed."

Definition - "Nashed": For a basketball player to appear at least 50% better than they actually are, just by being a team mate of Steve Nash. If in a contract year, can also mean being vastly overpaid for a long term contract and set up financially for life.

Examples: Amare Stoudamire, Shawn Marion, Joe Johnson, Raja Bell, or anyone who has played with Steve Nash from 2002 through 2011.

Notes from Houston Chronicle story [emphasis added] (http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterockets/2013/01/from-linsanity-to-sacre-bleu-dantoni-lakers-hope-to-rally-past-adversity/):
From ‘Linsanity’ to ‘Sacre bleu’? D’Antoni, Lakers hope to rally past adversity

Having guided Linsanity, Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni was hoping to make that magic happen again, this time with a dose of ‘Sacre bleu!”

With Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol and their backup Jordan Hill all out, the Lakers called Robert Sacre back from the NBA Development League Showcase in Reno to do more than celebrate on the bench.

“Linsanity happened,” D’Antoni said. “I said yesterday, I hope Sacresanity happens. You know what, there couldn’t be a better guy who deserves it. He’s the most energetic, best guy on the bench that you could have. It couldn’t happen to a better person as it did to (Jeremy) Lin, it couldn’t happen to a better person. We’ll see. He has an opportunity. We’ll see if it strikes twice. If good things happen to good people, we have a good opportunity to have that adage go forward.”

Sacre will start at center against the Rockets with either forward Antawn Jamison or guard Darius Morris moving into the starting lineup. If Morris starts, that would make Metta World Peace the starting power forward, which could make it difficult for him to play extended minutes as a backup center.

Nice assist in the 2nd. Bobbled a pick and roll chance after though.

Then bobbled a pass - but recovered and swish from the FT line area. Slightly off on another shot from the same area a moment later, almost rolled in.

Giving up 125 points, even in the NBA, is hard to do.

Lakers team speed is slow.
