I think the staff at times shys away from continuing to pursue elite prospects like Pope once they discover who is in the recruiting mix. They need to stick this one out until they officially get cut from the list. He has the makings of a kid who isn't enamored by all things BCS and who might actually choose GU. My worry if that with Nunez's signing that Few and Co. may have thrown in the towel. All I keep hearing is how much Pope likes GU.

I agree. We need to hard at the best kids till we don't make the cut. And if we are cut, we should go hard at someone else we need. ELias is gone next season. We need a strong kid at the 4/3 (part time). We won't get one unless we do the work.
It should be so much easier this year as we're getting some success with the media as a result of these great performances.

Few hates the very notion of players declaring their intentions on skype.

He hates the club circuit scene. He hates dealing with "handlers".

This is why Few will stay at GU forever.

This is why some kids will never land at GU. Few doesn't play that game.

Fortunately, there are enough good players in the world that Few doesn't have to go to the mental place he does not want to be.

If Few is forced to chase this kid down a dark ally, he isn't going to land here.

All Few needs is a "Wiltjer" experience every couple of years and he goes back to his comfort zone with respect to recruiting. It must be refreshing to recruit some of these foreign kids.

I'm fine with where Few is at.

I haven't updated my scholie chart in a while. Looks like we should have just one remaining next year, but a bunch open for 2014, if my assumptions are correct.

Malik Pope slipped and fell at a pep rally. Broken leg. Done for the year.

Casey lost arguably his best player, junior Malik Pope, for the season with a fractured tibia he suffered in a pep rally at Harriet Eddy Middle School.

“From what I gathered he planted his leg during layup lines and it just gave out,” said Casey. “It’s one of those things that could have happened anytime anywhere.

Tony Wroten busted up his knee playing football during his junior year, but it didn't slow down his recruitment.

I read earlier that it was actually his fibula. Certainly a difference there. Anyone know for sure what it was?

Everything's cool.

Pope can play on one leg and still be a four star. Cast it - - suit him up.

Really hoping we land Pope. On twitter he seems to really like us.

My goodness I really hope we push hard to get this kid... Having a good run in the tourney will go a long way in luring him and Josh Perkins

Broken leg during a layup line drill?

He needs to drink more milk.

He broke it at a pep rally at a middle school, so probably more of a case of terrible court conditions than anything else. Either way, it's important to go far this year. We have a lot of huge recruits looking at us with Malik being priority #1 at this point

Have the Middle School students been offered counselling? That would have to be awful traumatic.

aw man that is beyond NBA range on a couple of those shots. Shooting, handling, the long arms, the finishing at the rim. I doubt he'll play anywhere for all 4 years but boy could he tear it up at GU.

He is very talented for sure. Reminds me of Austin Daye who fared quite well here. Would love to see him here.

He has a low release on his jump shot. Sorry, just nitpicking at this point. The kid is incredible and DD has been putting in work for quite some time. Hope it pays off!

Hard to tell much from a vid like that, but he reminds me of a bigger Josh Lavine in terms of ball handling, change of direction, body control and ability to make off balance shots etc. Would be an incredible signing.

Jeremiah Dominguez was 5'6 and shot it from his waist. If you can get a step and get it off quick, it doesn't matter that much.

Very true. But one thing you can tell is his ability to get up to the rim to the level of elbow and forehead - - that is a rare attribute that cannot be taught. His control of the ball as well as some of the "old school," keep the defender off balance moves show that he has been very well coached.

This would be a huge signing.
