Nothing on Gaels board at this moment, however.

From what was written on the espn board about the game, so take with a grain of salt, was that the SMC flight was cancelled so they are now playing tomorrow at 11:30

FWIW: All WCC men's basketball teams as of yesterday (Dec 21st) have either .500 W-L records or better.

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/conferences/teams/_/id/29/west-coast-conference

When's the last time the conference has been about ten games into the season with all its men's squads at least breaking even in the win-loss columns? Of course the competition has been a bit uneven for a lot of those squads, but it's still nice for our WCC brethren.

So, congrats to Pepperdine, Portland, LMU, USD, etc. They deserves flowers: :adored:

I'm watching Kansas-Ohio State and wondering if GU could beat either.

Also thinking that Olynyk should watch tape of Withey. Both his defensive positioning and timing and his patience and poise in the post.

Go Illinois! Beat Missouri!

Both for our RPI and it will likely increase our ranking!

But mostly I still have a disliking for the Tigers after the Quinn Snyder years. Those fans that came to the old scout board to smack talk were about as bad as UW trolls.

Manny with 19, 18, & 27 the last 3 games, not to mention a couple double-doubles this season. He's currently averaging 7 rebs per game as well...would he be our starting SF right now? too tough to tell. I think he made the right decision.

Why did Brandon Paul choose turn in to a fairy down the stretch against Missuori instead of GU?

At least we can see we are a better team than we were than night. Paul was super-human. I think the game points to Missouri's defensive and rebounding. Both were equally mediocre on offense until you look at the rebounding column. wow.

51 to 29!!!! a +22 margin! that is basically 22 more possessions. The Illini just weren't going after the loose balls.

looks life a different player...much as gibbs does....sometimes change of scenery does that.....sometimes it is other things.....but neither played nearly as well at GU as they are playing now....

A change of scenery is pretty helpful even though Creighton is about as much like Gonzaga as any school. But another year of maturity, different playbook, and freedom from the original huge expectations. I can't imagine the pressure of being on a team where coming in 2nd is a bad year and going to the tourney is routine and expected.

It ought to be illegal for teams to adorn the kinds of uniforms that Florida and Kansas State are wearing in this game tonight. Forget about reading the names on the backs of the jerseys....you can't even read the numbers for crying out loud. Ridiculous.

Right up there with Oklahoma. Oklahoma is #25 RPI with an SOS of #16 right now.

K St (before Florida) was #130 RPI with an SOS of #302. But beating Florida shows those numbers are not realistic because they only lost to Michigan and Gonzaga.

Yep. I would give the eye test to Kansas state too. Especially after today. Hopefully we can beat Ok St and totally own the Big 12. But even with WVU Clemson and Davidson looking like decent wins, our resume will look impressive to the selection committee.

Agreed. Baylor, Butler and Oklahoma state are HUGE games. If we can win those three and lose only once in our 5 games to BYU/SMC then a 2 seed is possible. With KSU, BYU, SMC, Baylor, Oklahoma, Ok St, and Butler hopefully being top 50 teams, our remaining schedule has potential for a 2 seed

Very true! For me a 2-3 seed is equally awesome. We just have to win. The 2-3 seeds are the best possible places to be. Obviously.

Getting a 10 or 11 seed is better than a 8-9 seed if you want to avoid the 1 seed longer. Even a 12 seed can be better than an 8-9 . More games are better IMO. The ones who say "You're gonna have to play the 1 seed sometime." are usually those who play the 1 seed next. It is better IMO to delay the #1 seed as long as possible.

I think GU has the potential to wind up as a #1 seed IF we run the table BUT that being said, if we only lose one game the rest of the season and as long as that isn't in the WCC Tourney then we would look very good for a very high seed.

At present, I feel that the only team that looks "unbeatable" for us is UM. They have three really, really strong players and don't see us being able to play with them for 40 minutes...IMO. Of all the teams they are the most unbeatable of all and would be surprised to see them lose at home this season and think only IU might have a run at them in Bloomington. UM is scary good.

seems the change of scenery worked for Manny, which is just what Few always says they are trying to accomplish with these transfers...get all parties in better places. Grant too...they play a lot of zone at Creighton, right? Not a defensive team but a team that looks to outscore you...good fit for Grant imo.

would Manny be the guy at Gonzaga now at the 3 spot, would Grant? maybe. not only a change of scenery seems to have helped, but they've each had a full 2 off seasons to improve and mature as well. Looks like they have.

I'm just happy for them, and as far as Manny goes, as happy now as I was sad when I learned he would not be a Zag anymore. Like when I heard about Spangler leaving, and Meech too. But that's the way it is these days, for better or worse.

and fortunately, Few and co. have a great group of guys to root for again, even without those other guys

Was watching second half of Missouri-Illinois game and couldn't help but notice how often Illinois kept coming up short on their 3pt attempts. I noticed their next few shots were all behind the NBA 3 line and it got me curious. I re-watched the game and couldn't help but notice that Illinois took 13 of their 32 3's from behind the NBA 3 and 8 more stepping on the line. The rest were normal three's. I guess my question is was Missouri's 3pt defense that sufficating or did Illinois basically have no clue as to where the line was?

Next question would be whether GU could install a NBA 3pt line even if they have never hosted an NBA game or not, as this may be our best defense against the three.

As has been mentioned in previous posts depth perception in an NBA arena is often troublesome. What about 2-3 different 3 point lines?
