Whoever thought of "tent city" isn't too creative. The kennel club should have this already taken care of but since there are going to be plenty of "Tent Cities" in the future.

I vote for "Dog House Row".

Well, since you're there, spread my suggestion around or go up and down and ask.

See what they want to name it!

Hopefuly the Kennel club will pick one and let us know. If their "tent city" is going to get blurbs on national TV in the future, they might as well make it count.

If the arena is "the Kennel" then isn't tent city just the "Junkyard"?:fingergun:

They should call the student ticket distribution center the Fire Hydrant.

Funny thing is, there is nothing new about people "camping" where the present tent city is located. Back in the old days, the area around the East side of the Centennial Bridge was prime real estate for "campers". Close by, the East shore of Lake Arthur (before it was a lake) was another prime location. They called them "hobo villages" back then.

I'll always remember it as the scene before our last UW-GU game: burning a stuffed husky while kennel club'ers were doing keg stands. I imagine it's calmed down since then.

"Dog Town"

Most likely the folks from Jim Hill's yard might object though.

unless I missed earlier. There is also a place on the wrong side of the tracks in Hillyard referred to by that name. There's even a board member who uses that name. It fits, here. It's beyond the center of attraction.

Hillyard is literally built around the old rail yards just east of downtown. The name came from the railroad magnate, James Hill. The first 100% American made locomotive engines were built right in the Hill yard.

Hillyard now is the part of town where both sides are the "wrong side" of the tracks. Poorest neighborhood in Spokane. The average house is half the average for the rest of Spokane.

So barely more valuable than the tents outside the Kennel.

I believe that is correct. The Area E of the old railyard was DogTown IIRC. Eventually, people just started referring to most of Hillyard as Dogtown.

Well I lived in hillyard and dogtown. If you visit hillyard you would be surprised there could be a more ghetto area but dogtown is.

Didn't Bing's nickname come from some comic strip called Bingville?

If the area outside the "Kennel" is typically called a "Run" then being its Spikes Kennel shouldn't it be "Spikes Run?"
