I love this quote from a WSU player!

WSU freshman Brett Boese: "A lot of teams are looking for those 7-footers, and for some reason they have a few of them. They have them just laying around down there."

I can assure him that they are doing anything but "laying around."

Don't want to pick on the guy, but there's a reason he's at Wazzu. Since when is Spokane "down there" from Pullman!

They are not "laying around" taking any more naps during the FT practices thats for sure.

Here is the dialogue after Gonzaga was 54% from the line.

Few: "I only have one word to describe your "pathetic" free throw shooting."
Few: Long uncomfortable stare at each and every player.
Few: Even longer stare with heavy sighs and head shaking.

        Pin drop silence.........

our "north-is-up" orientation is simply a function of early map makers being northern european. maps in australia are typically oriented with south being up.

from a universal perspective, there is no right or wrong way to think of it. north doesn't equal up in any objective sense.

that being said, it's funny to have insight into our opponents' thinking re: our riches of height.

            Joke

When I read that I thought he was making a joke, and thought it was pretty good frankly. I took it as him saying we kind of have an embaressment of riches in terms of big men. Two highly skilled 7 footers who done always even start for us. Bigs just laying around, not in the sense that they aren't doing anything, but more, when we need one, we just go to the bench and put one in the game.

If I were going to quibble about this quote...

...the reason would be his use of "laying around" instead of "lying around."

When Boese says "They have them just laying around...," I took it to mean that we have a lot of them, not that they just lie around doing nothing. I'm with Fonebone on this one.

That was a great quote. Leave it to guboards' nitpickers to take issue instead of accepting the compliment and laughing in agreement.

Spokane is at a lower elevation than pullman from what google tells me. The convention of down being towards the center of the earth is a pretty well accepted one.

a better descriptor in that case would be "in", wouldn't it? you can go head first into a black hole...in that case you'd be going up and in. of course from the other side you'd be traveling out and around. or something like that.

ZN, guessing the direction (no pun intended) of your comment is towards me. I too think it's a very nice comment and pretty humorous.

But I also sometimes think the directionally challenged can be humorous also. I don't believe that's nitpicking. Of course, I could be wrong.
