Here's a look at how far into the season Gonzaga has been unbeaten under Mark Few. The best start Gonzaga has had is 7-0, in 2008-09.

The schedule is favorable for Few to get to 8-0 with Davidson, Lewis-Clark State and Pacific on tap.

Interestingly enough, in eight of these thirteen seasons Gonzaga's first loss came at a neutral site. Also, Illinois has been Gonzaga's first loss three times and will take their shot to make it four if Gonzaga is 9-0 at the time.

Here's the key for how to read these numbers:

Year: Record before first loss (Gonzaga ranking, opponent, score)

2011-12: 5-0 (#19, lost @ Illinois 82-75)
2010-11: 2-0 (#11, lost at home to #25 San Diego State 79-76)
2009-10: 1-0 (lost @ #2 Michigan State 75-71)
2008-09: 7-0 (#4, lost to Arizona 69-64)
2007-08: 4-0 (#14, lost to Texas Tech 73-63)
2006-07: 5-0 (lost to Butler 79-71)
2005-06: 3-0 (#8, lost to #3 UConn 65-63)
2004-05: 3-0 (#24, lost to #5 Illinois 89-72)
2003-04: 0-1 (#10, lost to #17 Saint Joseph's 73-66)
2002-03: 2-0 (#20, lost to #19 Indiana 76-75)
2001-02: 0-1 (lost @#3 Illinois 76-58)
2000-01: 3-0 (lost @ #5 Arizona 101-87)
1999-2000: 4-0 (#25, lost to #1 Cincinnati 75-68)

It is very important how you start....it is more important how you finish...

Something doesn't sound right. The year we lost to St Joseph's ...wasn't that a New Year's Eve game? Which would mean we had played more games. Just goin from memory here.

We had a string of games against St. Joe's... NYE game wasn't it. Think that was the game at MSG when they had Jameer. That was early in the season.

The NYE loss to St. Joe's was from the year before.

No doubt, there is only one ranking that matters and that's at the end of the season.

Davidson will be tough as will be the resurgent Pacific. Winnable, but I know the Few will not be looking at this, but on how to handle Davidson.

Now we can speculate! I see the Zags winning the next three, and Illinois in Spokane could also be a win. K-State will be tough, but Seattle is home to the best basketball team in Washington State...the Zags! (Did you think I meant someone else?)

Not trying to jinx them, but after having seen this team play six games, I think we could realistically be 13-0 when we play OSU and ranked in the Top Ten (not that the ranking is important)...just saying that is...

Pacific in the kennel will be a different story. They're coming down to earth tonight and they don't play in a place like K2 very often.
