Reminds me of my old friend Mike N from the great teams of 99-2001. ...just a better shooter and larger.

Wait, Nilson was larger and a better shooter? Cause that would certainly be my take. Nilson was damn near a knock-down threat on the perimeter as a Junior and Senior

I think I will miss watching Hart more than any other Zag in recent memory. Not to take away from any of the guys that have impacted our program, but Hart brings something to the game that not many other players do.

3/3 from the floor last night including a 3 bomb? I'll take that any day out of the week from anyone, let alone an all out hustling defensive specialist like Hart. I'm going to enjoy watching him play while I can.

The big question mark going in to the season seemed to be the "3" position, and Edi and Hart have both played really well the first 2 games. It looks like the 3 spot is in good hands this year.

Hart was all over the court last night in the first half especially, and I mean all over the court. There was a sequence where he got a rebound, passed it out, shot went up, he got the rebound again. And these happened on opposite sides of the court.

He was everywhere, and he was awesome.

That's what makes GU so special, walk on players that give a crap because they are treated well making big plays in big games.

It's like our very own Rudy, only more talented!

This is the sequence that prompted me to make this thread.

Not to mention, but there was zero hesitation on that three ball he dropped in. Maybe he's finally come around and is comfortable with himself as a shooter.

Both Hart and Edi looked great. Ball handling and confidence seemed much improved for both. I am amazed Hart was only credited with 2 rebounds, I swear he had at least double that plus countless tip outs and deflections.
Amazing depth this year, especially when you factor in getting Olynyk back.

Believe he shot two three balls without hesitation...not the same guy from last season...

He really special, the glue we needed and I remember people saying GU would be in big trouble with a walk-on starting..in fact we had two walk-ons that year...

I too will miss him as I stated he is very SPECIAL...

I believe Hart's always had confidence in his outside shot, they just never went in. It's the underneath shots, the put backs.

Love this kids game. He's certainly earned his time on the floor.

Rotation's gonna get interesting when Olynyk returns.

I liked when he first subbed in, as they were inbounding it he drew a foul (and did a somersault). I don't think a second even came off the clock and he already had an impact on the game. Awesome! And it's nice to see him putting up more shots and scoring this season.

Mike's worked hard to improve his game points. It's all that's held him back. We cured him over the summer. Now , it's not just his stellar defense, rebounding and general court sense...no he's got offense to go with it.
He always did have great offense............just not in games.
He's cleared that hurdle. There is a very good reason Few goes to him. He's THAT good in every department. His game shooting mystified me and Zag Buddy.

Now that that's cured, he should be seeing plenty of time.perhaps time in the most diffucult of situations. Seasoned veteran. Reminds me of my old friend Mike N from the great teams of 99-2001. ...just a better shooter and larger.
In some situations, I can see Edi and Hart on the floor at the same time.

:agreed: Every time Mike comes into the game I know our rebounding, defense, and hustle is going to turn up a notch. Love what this guy brings to the table every time he steps on the floor.

Remember last year when we were FREAKING OUT about the SF position? Now we have GLE and Hart this year, and Coleman next year. Dranginis can also play the 3 if needed. We could use a recruit next year who can play at the position, but it helps that GLE has vastly improved (exceeding my expectations, quite frankly).

him working out as a true freshmen forever ago. He could have schollied somewhere else. We are lucky.

now let him play guard. We need to open up some big time minutes for KO

Hart and Stocks, wow, has any D1 team ever got as much from two walk-ons at the same time?

Go!! Zags!!!

Hi Gray's Anatomy,

I was so impressed with Hart. Ya know why??? He has incredible HEART! I'm really starting to like what I see with Mike Heart.

What I loved was that several times Mike came out of nowhere to contest for the rebound. He didn't always get it, but he contested. I am also impressed at his offensive improvement this year. I heart Hart!

I liked this Greg Heister video interview of Mike Hart (http://www.swxrightnow.com/category/160222/video-landing-page?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=7958714) from the last Mark Few show. That is a cute kid!

Mike Hart personifies what makes college hoops and sports in general GREAT.

Overlooked, undr-appreciated but ALL IN every minute outthere.

LOVE his hustle, defense, rebounding, and all-around TEAM PLAYER. Plays the game as it was meant to be played!!

He deserves all the accolades he gets on this board and more. Why- because he can be depended on to do the little things when the team needs him most!!

I have no reason other than guys like him and Pendo ( had a chance to meet Pendo this summer briefly outside of McCarthy) and others mentioned above to even be a Zags fan...I'm from Northern Cali and discovered Zags when my daughter attended SMC during the Frahm and Santangelo era. Now ALL my buddies from Westerrn Pa know about the Zags and even rooted for them against WVU!!!( 90 miles away!)

So Mike - here's hoping for another GREAT season where YOU set the pace and honestly you are one of the ALL TIME GREAT Zags!!!!

Hart and Stockton have both completely won me over.

In the beginning of their careers, I questioned the wisdom of giving these two any playing time at all. Now, I would insist that both should be part of the rotation. They are both enjoyable to watch and they are both productive.

Hart, Stockton, and Edi have made quantum leaps over the summer.

I don't disagree.

That said, I think it's important for Draginis to get more minutes early in the season, during OOC. He's a more complete package than Stocks and his upside is higher IMO.

Its funny that you mention Rudy, Gray - b/c Mike is so strong, so aggressive and fast to the ball, dedicated to defense that I have wondered how he wasn't playing outside linebacker or defensive end for some Pac-12 team - not that I would let him go for anything, but that kind of dedication, athleticism, strength translate through other sports, but most guys built like Mike are playing top top D-1 football. If we didn't know anything about him but were introduced to him in a weight room and asked what sport we would guess he played - I would think that football would be most people's answer.

Alas, since we don't have a football team we'll just need to keep him bottled up here lighting a fire under whoever he is guarding each game.
