    One of my favorite Zag factoids

    =======================================
    =======================================
    =======================================
    =======================================

    Gonzaga has gone to the postseason 13 out of the last 14 years, beginning in 1994. 10 of those 13 have been to the NCAA Tournament.

    1994: NIT
    1995: NCAA
    1996: Didn't Play
    1997: NIT
    1998: NIT
    1999-2007: NCAA

    Question for y'all: Has any other WCC school had this kind of consistent streak in their history?

    The funny thing about those first two years, 94 and 95 is that the NIT team of 94 was far better than the NCAA team of 95. Thus the live or die scenario of mid-major conference tourneys.

      Likewise I've always felt the '98 NIT team (24 wins -- lost the conference tourney final to USF) could have done some damage in the dance.

      As it happens, they were sent to Laramie for the NIT (where they won).

      Bottom line -- although it was a different era. it's tough to trump the back to back National Championships of USF. However, the Gonzaga story hasn't ended -- and in my opinion the best days of Zags hoops still lie ahead.

        FWIW, the 96 & 97 teams should be the other way around. The NIT was in 96 (lost in finals of WCC tourney, just like in 98).

          Zags are not done making history. The empire is not crumbling as some on those other WCC sites would have us believe.

            My guess would have been the Dons; however, here is what I found:

            Men's NCAA Championships (2) 1955 • 1956
            NIT Championships (1) 1949
            Men's Conference Titles (17)
            * WCC Tournament title 1955 • 1956 • 1957 • 1958 • 1963 • 1964 • 1965
            1972 • 1973 • 1974 • 1977 • 1978 • 1979 • 1980
            1981 • 1982 • 1998*
            Men's NCAA Tournament
            Appearances
            *Final Four appearance 1955* • 1956* • 1957* • 1963 • 1964 • 1965 • 1972
            1973 • 1974 • 1977 • 1978 • 1979 • 1981 • 1982
            1998

            Very impressive for the Dons, but in terms of a consistent streak..not quite as good........
