If my memory serves me correctly, once Jeremy Pargo made #! on ESPN's Top 10 Plays of the Day:

Doubt that was the dunk, but it's pretty sweet. Has any other Zag been #!?
Who, and what plays, might be our best chances for Top 10 Plays of the day?

Pargo can dunk -- the man is impressive and has posterized many a player.

Did Ira Brown ever get a #1 play on SC? I remember a game at LMU (or Pepp) I went to with my family where he got an alley-oop from Gray that was so nasty the refs were in shock and accidentally waved it off. It was so amazing nobody even cared--a "did he just do that?" moment. After the game they added the points onto the board. I think that might have made Sportscenter.

I just found a video from another Ira dunk that definitely got #1, according to KXLY. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcIfZ_Yw868

As for today, I think GLE could make it happen. He's probably the only guy on the team atheltic enough to make the attention grabbing plays that get a #1. Of course, a buzzer beater from three always gets top play, and anyone, literally anyone, of our guys could hit one of those.

So we all know about Steven Gray's vertical. Steven Gray could absolutely throw down like that if he had spent the time and energy to focus on it. He didn't. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I don't believe that Gary Bell has the vertical that Gray has, but I have to wonder if he is one of those guys that could do such things if he prioritized it. I don't think he does. Dunks are flashy, but there is a heck of a lot more to basketball than dunks.

Considering that college hoops allows for zone defense, the "one on one" situations are somewhat more limited than in the pros. For that reason, a large percentage of GU dunks are seen in transition or after turnovers.

This brings us to Guy. He is the designated transition "jack rabbit". He will get more opportunity to dunk than almost any other Zag. This is a good thing. I want Guy to run, throw it down, fire up the crowd, and fire up his team. Harris easily fits this format and will get his share as well.

Guy and/or Harris will likely get a top ten ESPN play (throw down) this year. I would bet on it.

I couldn't agree more with previous posters. We should see some great dunks in transition....but, I'm thinking some of these highlight dunks will come from straight down the middle when teams are double-teaming when they haven't been used to doing that in the last few years.

I guess I meant teams are going to be burned once they double-team the Zags!

Another shot that could get in the top 10... As the clock winds down, Pangos from half-court at half-time!

Soccerdud, great one!
At the end is the Bouldin Bomb. It's the pass to the far end of the court to beat the press, for an easy basket/ dunk. He did it so many times, and I can not remember one attempted that was intercepted. I often wondered if he could have had a long football quarterback career. He remains one of my all time favorite Zags.

My favorite Pargo dunk was somehow called a charge in the Great Alaskan Shootout

That's the one, wish I could find it.

Best. Dunk. Ever.

And no way was it a charge.

An Alley-oop has oopers, and Oopees
For Oopers, Pangos has got to be the most likely to supply the pass that gets to the ESPN Top 10. What other Zag could do that? David comes to mind, but I can not remember an alley-oop he was part of.
For Oopees, Seems to me, Harris is the best candidate to get to ESPN Top 10. Guy has a great opportunity as well.
What other Zag might finish an alley-oop this year?

Special K, getting a defensive rebound, no open outlet, taking the ball downcourt while weaving through traffic. Picks up his dribble at the FT line, one step and slams it home...shattering the backboard. It's a #1 for sure!

My guess is that Stockton is at least as likely to throw an Alley-oop as Pangos is: Stockton does fairly often thrown tough passes on a break and is better at getting the ball into the post though traffic. I would assume that also correlates to Alley-oops. Of course, Pangos will probably get a lot more minutes.

As far as who will finish those lobs: Dower, maybe KO (tough to say since we haven't seen the guy play in so long and his body has changed so much), and definitely Edi.
