Does anyone know how far along our schedule is?? I know that it isn't normally out until September or October. Im trying to book flights home for Christmas, and I want to know if I need to come back early to see any games. That said, who are are scheduled opponents and who are we trying to get??

The dates will be set very soon. It's the TV times that will need to be worked out, and that's what delays the finished schedule. Prolly September.

In the meantime, the following reflects some firm dates and opponents and lots of tentatives and rumors, with changes from the recent version on the other thread highlighted in blue.

I wouldn't recommend relying on the schedule above for travel plans however.

Edited to add: Someone posted a link showing Liberty playing UK on Nov. 21, so it seems likely they'll be out of the GAS, which will be looking for a replacement. I don't think I'd like to be organizer of the GAS in these days when commitments are broken so easily...

Thanks for the info. It looks like the Zags games during Christmas break will be in So. Cal, not in N. Cal. I have nothing to worry about. I don't think I wil try to make the drive from Carmel to LMU or Pepperdine, I'll just watch on TV.

In the upcoming 2007-2008 Gonzaga Basketball season, what would be the top 3 or 4 home games to watch? What would be their top 3 or 4 away games to watch?

07-29-2007, 05:55 PM
I'm personally circling the games between Pokie State, Portland (DR's kid brother), and Santa Clara.

07-29-2007, 06:44 PM
wsu, tennesee and memphis.

07-29-2007, 07:03 PM
If you ask me -

@ home: WSU (definitely), Utah (? if it happens), and USD (Grier's return)

on the road: UConn (Neutral), Tenn (BiS), and Memphis (National Championship contenders, probably), also the Big XII team (depending on who that ends up being - Baylor excites me not)

Cal State-Northridge is confirmed, so our ooc home schedule will be--

Georgia (Spokane Arena)

07-30-2007, 10:17 AM
So is UAB out, whether home or away?

07-31-2007, 07:53 PM
Here is UCR's most current "incomplete" schedule:

Nov 10, 2007 at Texas Tech
Nov 12, 2007 at University of Texas Arlington
Nov 17, 2007 at Gonzaga University

Snagged from the LMU Board. UC Riverside's partial schedule. Do we have UC Riverside on Nov 17th?

07-31-2007, 07:57 PM
We have quite the little detectives here, don't we? Nice work, Abe. Do you have the link handy?

Thanks, Abe. I found the link to the UCR official schedule, and it shows the Zags game in Spokane November 17th.

We're geniuses ZN! pure geniuses!!!! It must be a plot to deny us knowledge of the Zag's schedule. You know how these mods are.....lol

07-31-2007, 08:44 PM
I've got a hunch the Mods are just as curious as we are. Lots of schedules out there for our opponents still seem to be in flux, perhaps because of TV scheduling demands. FWIW, here's the latest version, with change from last speculative schedule highlighted in blue, until and unless BZ tells us we should change it. As previously noted, some of it is based on second-hand or rumored info, so take care relying on it, at least until BZ confirms:

Thanks, Abe for the good eye! Some holes seem to be filling in nicely.

.....or maybe Tenspeed & Brownshoe. :p

Just a side note: if memory serves, the game limit - not counting exhib & postseason - is 28 (G.A.S. counts as only one). And Native's schedule now shows 29. So assuming the added UCR tilt is legit, one of "Unknowns" in the sched is out. (Again, if I'm remembering that right....) Being how Bob left out UAB above, I wonder if that deal just ended up falling thru?

Anyway, great work, gents!!

Anyone got an idea when the Utah game might be? Big night for Handsworth Secondary up here in North Vancouver, Canada. Utah's Tyler Kepkay and the Zags Robert Sacre.

I've got an inkling as to who our B12 opponent is. Its not finalized but it is all but a done deal from what I have heard. Just need to follow up on a couple of things before I post the name of the school. I will say this, there is definitely a return game in the arena involved but in 2 years not next year. More to follow.

CDC84's earlier speculation about the Big 12 game (http://www.guboards.spokesmanreview.com/showthread.php?t=4095)

so I had to surf. If already-released schedules are to be believed, we can rule out Colorado, Kansas, Baylor, Texas, Texas Tech, & Texas A&M (although I only counted 27 on A&M's sched, so maybe they have another game to add?).

The rest:

Iowa State
Kansas State
Oklahoma State

From CDC's earlier post, it looks like we can rule out OSU. I also trust his judgment that Missouri and Iowa State are not likely to be neutral-neutral foes. And even though he left Nebraska out of that post, I tend to believe the Huskers are in that category as well.

So it's either OU or K-State. (Or not!)

If I thought an OU series would help with RC's recruitment, I'd favor it. But it looks like it's just a home-n-home with the roadie being this year....presumably in the All-College. But we just there just 3 seasons ago.

Using brilliant deductive powers, the opponent will be Kansas State.:D

(actually, if the list of 6 holds, K-St is the school I'd want to play this year. They had the best record out of the bunch last year. Plus they add Michael Beasley. Oh yeah, nothing like a high-quality road/neutral W to boost that RPI.)

oooooohhhh, the suspense....

Still tracking down more info. But it is being set up by that station with four letters, which means it will be a nationally televised game.

Let's hope I'm not forced to choose sides.
Let's see...Hometown team who I grew up watching....or alma matter?

I just got a call from SMC about buying tickets for this season and they told me that unofficially the SMC game on that trip is Mon Feb 4. The SCU is Sat Feb 2. SCU also said that is right, but it is still unofficial. I called SCU as well.

Dickie V seems to think that the Gonzaga v Oklahoma game is a go.

Some of the stuff on this thread is pretty old, as the fluid world of GU hoops scheduling goes. More current stuff can be found on this thread (http://www.guboards.spokesmanreview.com/showthread.php?t=4487&highlight=schedule).

FWIW, I think the most current speculation is described in the schedule below. I think I'll hold off on making any changes in WCC dates and times until we get some official confirmation and then probably change all at once.

P.S. Regarding Dickie V's column, does it drive everybody else as crazy as it does me that so many sports internet pages are undated? Why do they do that?

08-27-2007, 06:20 PM
is the final schedule out yet?

09-09-2007, 06:13 PM
when will the schedule be release?

09-10-2007, 07:19 AM
when will the schedule be release?

I read somewhere last week, that they are just waiting for the TV schedule for a final few games to be worked out & then it will be released. Probably at the end of September.

I guess that's the downfall of having a team that has ALL its games televised, :) those that don't have to worry about dealing with networks released their schedules 2-3 weeks ago.:(

I heard from Oliver Pierce, SID, that it would be finalized, "Hopefully within the next week or so. We are still finalizing some TV details."
