My first adventure for the year. Plan to put them all in this thread as the year goes on.

We left for Kraziness in the Kennel about 10:30. At about 12, Mr. ID dropped me off at the Red Lion and went on to park and get in line. I walked for 20 minutes to the MAC--very windy but not too cold.

I got to the MAC and relieved Mr. ID in the line, and he went off to take a long walk (he usually walks 3 miles a day at a much faster pace than I do.)

There were about 30 people in front of us in line which doubled to twice that just before they opened the doors--all the family and friends. The front two people had arrived at 5:30 and 6:30.

From the front of the line:

It was really cold and windy. We werejust inside the wall so it was a little better, but I was glad I bought my 2 Zag blankets that my sister gave me for Christmas a few years ago.

The scrimmage was really entertaining. I did not try to take photos because my camera is not up to it.

The first thing I noticed was that Kelly Olynyk was not introduced or mentioned. I was really disappointed that we weren't going to get to see him play.

I was really impressed with my first glimpses of Drew Barham and PK. Also liked what I saw from Gerard Coleman--too bad we won't get to see him play for a year. I did think that maybe some extra time in the weight room would benefit him.

Liked what I saw from all of the returning players. Looks like they have really been working hard.

Waiting in line for autographs.

Standing in line for autographs. Look closely at the top of my head. I got bored standing in lilne and went over to the SUpercuts booth and had one side painted red and the other pointed blue. Now I'll have to wash my hair before I go to be or I will have red and blue pillows.

I asked Elias where Kelly was and he said he was sick and would be playing next week.

All of the guys were really friendly while signing autographs, even the newbies, who might reasonably overwhelmed by the crowds.

One real surprise was I guy a did not recognize--for good reason. His name is Bryan B (Barcor?). Kevin said--"He's the new guy." Apparently he is a walk onwho just got on the team yesterday. #33 from his signature--I don't think he played, though.

I got to chat with a lot of board members--OregonZag and her husband, Zagit Up, IrishZag, a couple I had met before but did not remember their handles.

After we left the line, I chatted with the ticket guys Chris and Josh.

We left for home just before dark. Unfortunately, we took a back route to avoid construction, and in the dark made a wrong turn and ended up in Blanchard! Not exactly on our way home. So we were late getting home.

But all in all, it was a great Adventure in ZagLand.

I just read the tweets from Jim Meehan about an "unresolved issue with student life". I can understand why Elias would not want to mention this in front of God and Everybody--and he probably told the truth--Kelly is probably sick about the whole thing.

I forgot to mention that after we got into the arena, I walked laps around the concourse to get another ten minutes in, and while doing so renewed my acquaintance with most of the ushers and security guards.

Once I was rested and fed, I kept remembering things.

Had a fun exchange with Elias. I asked him how his dings were. He said they were okay. I asked if he was going to be able to play next Saturday, and he answered with a sly little grin "Yes, but not if you don't want me too!" I said, Oh, I want you to play--big time." He just smiled.

Hi ZaGranny,

Wonderfully done! Thanks for the scoop! Love our Zags! If your pillows became blue and red from the great new hair coloring then you would just have to change the color scheme of your whole house to match the pillows!

The pics and feedback are Awesome baby with a capital "A"!!!

Thanks!

Thank you for the picture of my parents, ZaGranny! (Silver-haired lady in blue Zags sweatshirt sitting in a lawn chair and the gentleman in the brown jacket). I couldn't be there, but she has her phone out so I'm assuming that's when she was giving me one of her updates.

They're from your neck of the woods also - Priest River area.

They check the boards at least once a day, so they'll get a kick out of seeing those pictures also.

We got an early start from home, and made it to the Kennel by 3:30. Easy drive--we think we have found a faster way to get there--all from trying to avoid some of the construction.

I picked up our tickets and went on in to do my laps around the concourse. Did 15, which is a little more than a mile. Ran into Lurknomore and her husband, a poster whose handle I don't remember, and Pendo before the game.

Our seats were row 1 section 118, seats 8 and 9. I didn't realize the first 3 rows there were A, B, and C--they seemed to be mostly guests--NNU. But seats 8 and 9 and almost behind the basket. I could see pretty well, but Mr. ID couldn't, so at the half we moved up a row where there were 4 empty seats.

Loved seeing the guys play again. Kevin Pangos and Gary Bell looked really good. Elias started really slowly, but picked up later. Was happy to see Hart scoring and hustling as usual. Dower played pretty well, but early foul trouble hampered him, I think. Karnowski is going to be really good. He missed a few early shots, but got much better later in the game. I thought Kyle looked good as the game went on. Was fub to see Rem in there at the last.

Was glad to see that Kelly was on the bench in his "coaching" outfit--polo shirt and khakis--and to learn later that he will be able to play after 3 games.

At half time, I visited with BobZag and Hondo. Highlight: After the game, I ran into Pendo and his wife, and got to meet their 2 month old daughter. Adorable! She looks like a little doll when Pendo is holding her.

Visited with Hondo some more. Then Mr. ID and I headed for the Red Lion River Inn. Since it is my birthday, we decided to stay overnight and have a nice meal at Hill's Restaurant. We walked over to Hill's--another half hour walk to add to my exercise tally, and had a great meal. The Red Lion Shuttle picked us up and brought us back to the hotel.

More tomorrow about our trip home.

How was dinner at Hill's?

It was great. We both had rib eye steaks, mine with a mushroom sauce and they were delicious cooked rare for me and medium rare for Mr. ID. There were steamed veggies, and roasted potatoes, also delicious. We have enough left to take home and make another meal of it. We also split a luscious chocolate mousse cake. Service was good, too. We had tried a couple of times to go there, but they are usually very busy. We made reservations, but we would not have needed them--apparently last night was Halloween party night, so they only had a couple of tables full.

We just got home from our big adventure in Zagland. We ate breakfast in the hotel, made two stops at Costco and Macys. I sat in the car with the dogs at Costco, and Mr. ID sat in the car with them at Macy's to ensure that our clever lab didn't find a way to get in the cooler with last night's leftover steak.

It was a great birthday, a great game, and great stay in Spokane.

What a great first game for the season!

When we left home, it had snowed quite a little bit. So we loaded up the dogs, their food, and water, and an overnight bag in case we needed to spend the night in Spokane, and headed out early. There was snow before and after Rathdrum, but it wasn't too bad, and we got to the MAC about 4:30.

I picked up the tickets, went back to the car and gave Mr. ID his, and headed into the MAC to walk the concourse. Mr. ID stayed behind to walk the dogs.

That early, most of the people who were there were the Kennel Club members, and it was easy to see that the energy level was high. We were seated directly behind the band, and fortunately, there were a few empty seats in the handicapped section, so we were able to move over from behind 2 tall guys and the tuba players.

I walked 14 laps around the concourse before the game. I saw several people I know. I had great conversations with a couple of board "lurkers" who had read my posts and recognized me.

The game was great. The guys looked really strong from the start. Elias, Gary and Kevin were strong as usual. I thought that Guy looked much improved and had a lot of energy, and Dower seemed better on defense.
The second team came in fairly early, and boy did I like what I saw. PK looked really good, though he missed a few shots he should have made. Dower did as well. Stockton looked great, Kyle looked stronger than I remember from a year ago. Mike Hart played his usual great defense, but I kept saying "Shoot, Mike!" Drew Barham played a short time--understandable, since he had a small surgery on his nose within the last week or so. He was wearing a face guard of some time. Toward the end of the game the students started chanting "We want Rem!" and he came in. His first act was to shoot a free throw--then he hit a three and the Kennel Club went berserk (me too!). Some of the KC that left early (some even before the half)will be sorry they missed that shot.

Halftime, I walked another couple of laps. I ran into Lurknomore and her husband and talked to BobZag. He said "They'll score 100 points if the bigs hit their shots!" And he was right--the bigs did, and the team did get 100 points! Good job predicting, BobZag. I saw Pendo twice as I walked around, with his baby--jiggling her as he walked. She did not seem to be bothered by all the noise at all.

In the second half, shooting got better, but it seemed like the defense dropped off a bit. All in all, it was a good beginning to the season.

After the game, I walked another lap (gave me 17 total--a little over a mile and a quarter) and talked to Hondo for a few minutes.

We left for home, since it had not snowed since the game started. We stuck to the main roads, and although there was a little snow around Rathdrum, it wasn't bad.

All in all, it was another great adventure in ZagLand for us.

Edited to add: No pics today--I forgot to put my camera battery back in after I charged it.

It snowed all the way from home to the Washington state line 54 (0r 53).

Then it rained. We got to the Red lion at 4:10 and checked in and are now relaxing before going down to restaurant for dinner.

Honestly don't see why the Alums cancelled their game watch party. Our trip was uneventful--the way we like 'em.

Now my thoughts about the game. I thought we would win, but I didn't see this coming! It was amazing--even the students stayed until the last 3 minutes or so in a blow out--and very few of the other fans left until then. We, of course, stayed until the end. The KC did a very good job, in myopinion.

I was very impressed with the way the guys played. We had 5 guys in double figures. Loved that Hart had 10 points. Again every body played (although it took so long to get Rem in he only got 5 seconds). Was impressed with the way they are playing together. Also noticed that PK played quite a bit with 4 fouls and didn't get another--good job!

Saw Hondo as I walked, and a couple of lurkers talked to me. I walked a couple more laps at the half and one after the game for a total of 17. Pendo was ahead of me as I walked at the half--kind of ran interference for me, as he could get through the crowd much more easily than I could.

Altogether it was a great game.

We left the game and went back to the hotel. We are both so wired, neither of us is in the least bit sleepy.

Tried to post last night, and it didn't work. Now I have one duplicate post and the posts in the wrong order.

We slept in until 10 this AM--but we thought it was almost noon--apparently when I turned off the alarm, I changed the time. Got up and had a nice breakfast at the hotel.

I walked the small dogs from the Red Lion to the cog (to get my exercise in because I am always to tired after we get home from Spokane. I went into the COG to get a few Christmas presents for nieces. Then we drove to Costco and did some shopping.

Saw a lot of Zag fans. One guy saw my hoodie and said "The Zags played really well last night." I said, "They sure did." and he walked away saying "Yup, yup, yup!" Mr. ID also had several folks say "Go Zags."

After Costco, we drove home. It was raining much of the way, melting the snow, although we still have snow on the ground here.

It was a great adventure in ZagLand--which took a long time in the telling.

One problem I had might have something to do with board crash--I would try to post a second post, and it would say "you have to wait 30 seconds between posts. Try again in 4930 seconds"

But I am done now.

When I posted my thoughts for the second time (after losing them Monday night) I neglected to emphasize how great the Kennel Club and the rest of the crowd was. The Kennel Club was very loud throughout, and the crowd was very enthusiastic. Very few of the KC or crowd left before the end--and not until less than 4 minutes left in a blow out did anyone leave that I could tell. That was pretty impressive at a 9:00 game that was made even longer by all of the fouls and free throws.

Leaving a game early is one of my pet peeves--I figure the team doesn't get to leave, whether it is a blowout win or blowout loss, so we should stay, too. (I know, I may be in a minority here, but it comes from teaching high school for many years and attending football and basketball games of both losing and winning teams.)

Long adventure today. With plans to attend both MBB and WBB games today, we left about 10:30. We had to stop at a store in Sandpoint to pick up my last Christmas gift (so that I can start wrappng packages tomorrow). Unfortunately, they didn't have the right item in. However did have a nice Zag encounter in the doorway to the store. Saw guy with a GU sweatshirt and said "Go, Zags!" I asked him if he were going to watch the game, and he asked what time it was and I told him it was at 1:00 PM on Root, so he said he would be able to watch it.

Then we drove on to Spokane and the MAC. We were a little later than usual, and there was a mixup--no tickets were there for me. Josh, in charge of tickets, fixed it for me, but the delay and our being late meant that I only got to walk 4 laps around the concourse before the game. A couple of the ushers remarked on it, but I explained that being here for both games meant that I had a lot of chances to walk laps. Saw Hondo before the game, and Lurknomore and her daughter and Bobzag at the half and after the game. Met a man as I walked laps, who said "Didn't I meet you in line one day? And aren't you the lady who writes on the Boards--ZaGranny" I pleaded guilty, and we had a nice chat.

I was really impressed with the way the guys played. Elias was fantastic. And I noticed something I had not focussed on with him before. He was guarding inbounds pass right below our seats. He has an great vertical leap! So I watched for it, and it wasn't a fluke. I saw it again and again on rebounds, dunks, etc. He had a marvelous game. Pangos, Bell, Dower and Edi were also solid. From the bench, Shrek looked improved. I really like his little hook shot. And I did notice that most of the time he was making the second FT, even if he missed the first. Rob used to do that, too, so I think there is hope for Shrek to improve. Hart did his usual efficient job on defense. Stockton had some nifty little passes, as always, including some to Shrek that were great. Kyle also looked good. Rem and Drew came in late and I was glad to see all the guys get into the game.

As a side note, I noticed the South Dakota guard number 14 (Casey Kasperbauer) who is from Carroll, IA--30 miles from where Mr. ID grew up. Interestingly enough, he looks very much like Mr. ID did when he was in high school--but Mr. ID's sports were track and cross country, not BB. I guess all those Iowa farm boys look alike. :-) #14 had a very pretty shot. I always look to see where our opponents' players come from, and take special note of kids from Iowa, and Alaska, among other states.

My only down note was the large number of empty seats in the student section. Since Bulldog Club members could only buy 4 seats and when we bought ours the only ones available were in row 29, I can only conclude that
kids had their cards swiped and then didn't show up. I ran into a couple of cheerleaders in the restroom and mentioned this, and they were unhappy about it as well. One said "We met you at the last game." and the other said
"Yes, in the restroom!" I laughed and said "We've got to stop meeting in the restroom!" and they laughed, too. The KC that was there did a great job, although many left early, some as early as the half.

After a very satisfactory game, we made a Costco run. That was almost as much fun. There was a plethora of Zag fans there--got a lot of "Go Zags!" "How about them Zags" As I was snacking on a sample, a guy said "Go Zags! Aren't you the lady that writes on the blog as ZaGranny? I always read your stuff! " Then we had a great conversation. A woman with a Zag sweatshirt went by, and he drew her into the conversation, and it was a lot of
fun. We went over to get Polish dogs and as Mr. ID got in line, I went to get a table. At the table next to us was a guy in Zag gear. He had found paper towels to clean a messy table, so I asked him for some to clean ours. So of course we started talking Zags.

We left Costco and stopped at Auntie's and Uncles downtown. Still looking for the latest Sue Henry novel which was supposed to be out in 2010 but hasn't come out yet. Also looking for jigsaw puzzles of a certain type that I haven't done yet--only found one.

From there we left for the MAC and the women's game. That adventure and the trip home will be in the WBB thread.

I forgot to tell about my favorite Zag encounter on the Costco run. As Mr. ID was putting the groceries in the car an elderly couple came up and spotted his Zag sweatshirt. I came up as they started talking. The man said he has been making scrapbooks for Gonzaga for 13 years. He includes all of the newpaper clippings each year. He gives them to Mark Few and others and has met the teams over the years. They are really huge fans and usually watch the games at home but occasionally get tickets to go see them in person.

They were so tickled to talk to other Zag fans.

What an adventure!

We left early today, and made a stop in Sandpoint to pick up the last Christmas present, that they didn't have last week.

Then we headed to Spokane. Easy trip. We got to the MAC at 4:30. We picked up our tickets, then walked over to the COG to get a few stocking stuffers. Then we walked back to the MAC. Mr. ID stayed outside to walk, while I went in to walk the concourse.

I walked 10 laps before the game. I saw BobZag, Hondo, Lurknomore and her daughter and IrishZag before the game. Fun to chat wil all these board members.

As I was walking I took this picture of the warm-ups:

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx213/lormwise/1129126L-C.jpg

Watching the warmups, I noticed a curious thing during the lunge, swing your arms in the opposite direction drill. The guards, when they lunge, go almost to the floor. The bigs barely bend their knees. Must be easier to get down when you're small.

It was a surprise when they announced the starters: Kelly, Sam, Stocks, Pangos and Edi--no Harris or Bell. It became obvious right away that they were not needed. They got off to a great start. Really impressed with the play of Kelly, Stocks, Pangos. Edi and Dower both looked improved from last weekend.

Then the bench got into the act. Kyle Dranginis--WOW--just WOW! Shrem looked good too. All of the Zags got into the game except Harris and Bell. Later heard on the post-game show that they were being rested. Drew got some quality minutes and Rem got in for four minutes. Mike Hart played his usually solid defense.

The one disappointing thing was again many empty seats in the student section. And apparently they did not sell (or they did not show up) in section 103. The kennel club did a good job.

At the half I walked 3 more laps, cheered on by several of the ushers who keep track of my laps.

After the game, I walked 2 more laps, then I went down to where the kids (and 1 ZaGranny) waited for the guys to come out.

Rem came out early, still in his uni, to hug friends/family. I did not get a pic.

Hart came out early:

I especially stayed to get Kelly's autograph, since I got all the other players at Kraziness in the Kennel. He graciously signed both my poster and cap.

Well, we got a late start today. After about 3 weeks, the guy was here to fix the dryer--supposed to be here between 8 and 12 and got here at 12:20. He finished at 2--30 minutes after we had planned to leave.

We took the dogs. Our neighbor who looks after them since Rusty has severe anxiety about riding in the car was under the weather and we didn't want to have her come over three or four times to look after them

We got to the MAC in plenty of time for me to walk and Mr. ID to walk the dogs.

I walked 15 laps around the concourse before the game. I saw BobZag, BBallGuy, ZagLaw and a couple of lurkers who came up to talk to me. The ushers were keeping tabs on my laps. When I went up to buy a Pepsi, the young lady who took my money said "I really like to see you walking around the arena. I see you almost every game!"

As I walked, I took a pic of the warmup. Either the guys were really moving fast or (more likely) I moved.

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx213/lormwise/1201121Pacific.jpg

Loved the game. The guys started slowly and Pacific was ahead, but the Zags caught up and had pulled away by the end of the first half.

At the half, I walked 2 more laps. Saw Hondo, Laurie, and a couple of board members that I don't remember their names.

Another "artsy" photo of the Kennel Club doing Zombie Nation at the beginning of the second half. I was was really trying to get a pic of the big heads, which wasn't entirely successful.

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx213/lormwise/1201126Pacific.jpg

During the game, I was pretty much standing up in the aisle. We were in section 103, to the right of the Kennel Club, and the guy who was in front of me was pretty tall.

Was really impressed with all of our bigs tonight. They did a fantastic job on offense and defense. Was glad to see the Zags keep it up in the second half and they were not ever really threatened in the second half.

Sam making a basket from the free throw line in the second half.

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx213/lormwise/1201125Pacific.jpg

While I was dancing during dance cam, 2 of the cheerleaders (a girl and a guy) came up the aisle and danced with me--that was really fun.

While I was standing in the aisle, a guy came up and asked me if I were ZaGranny. He is a lurker on the board, and he recognized me by the hoodie and pony tails.

I took a picture of the Bomb Squad. I really like their outfits and they did a great job.

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx213/lormwise/1201123Pacific.jpg

After the very satisfactory ending to the game, I walked a couple more laps around the concourse to give me 18 for the day.

We drove home and got here about 9. I cooked a late super of tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, and we are now relaxing.

Another great adventure in Zagland--with another coming up tomorrow with the Lady Zags.

Another long adventure.

We left early today because of the weather and in order to make a stop at Costco. We loaded up the dogs and overnight stuff just in case the roads got really bad and we needed to stay.

The roads over to Spokane were really not too bad and we made our stop and got to the arena about 4:35.

Mr. ID stayed in the car with the dogs and to wait to give tickets to a couple we had gotten them for through the Bulldog Club. I went up to walk the concourse.

As you can see from the pictures, there were very few people in the arena when we first got there.

The game was great. The guys had a really good first half. Shrem started and played quite a bit. Kyle got some good minutes , too. For the second straight game, free throws were better. Kelly and Elias had strong games as usual, and Mike Hart had...heart---as usual. Everyone got into the game except Rem.

The people we had gotten tickets for (her Christmas present for him) had never been to a game at the Kennel before and enjoyed it, even though the atmosphere was dead. There was a group in section 108 that looked like students, but no cheerleaders, so they were very quiet. Spike was there, but didn't much luck trying to get people get involved. I was a little irritated that the visiting bench was cheering defense--and were louder than the whole Zag crowd.

I of course, was my usual loud self, enthusiastically cheering and jumping up and down and yelling "Deee-fense". As I walked the concourse before the games man walking by me tapped me on the elbow and said "I just wanted to tell you to take care of the dee-fense tonight!" I said I would--and joked that if I didn't yell dee-fense they might forget what they are supposed to do.

I chatted with BBallguy before the game and with Hondo at the half.

I lost a glove at the game. Anyone find a black GU glove (given away by Verizon a couple of years ago).

We left about 8:30 and got home around 10:15, so the drivie wasn't too bad.

Now I am fixing a late supper of tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich.

We left early for the game, loaded up with the 3 dogs, because I wanted to have my doctor's check out the bump on my head (acquired Christmas night), which had turned into a spectacular shiner. (Should have told you to look for the red hoodie, the two pony tails, and the shiner!) Fortunately, the doctor's said that the bruising was superficial, and I did not need a scan, but gave me warning signs to look for.

Then we signed into the Red Lion (we're staying for the Lady Zags' game tomorrow) and headed over to the arena.

I picked up the tickets and went into the arena to walk the concourse. Before the game I walked 10 laps. I had a couple call me over to a table. They were lurkers, who have read my posts.

I got a new camera for Christmas--it is easier to use--I don't have to turn off the flash every time I open it, plus it seems better. Here are some pics of the warm ups:

Terrific game. I loved the performance of Kevin Pangos, GBJ, Kelly Olynyk, Elias Harris, Mike Hart, PK. I thought Edi looked better, and was glad to see KD get some minutes.

The student crowd gained some folkd after I took the pics, and I thought the crowd was louder than against Campbell. Loved seeing Kelly, Rem and some other guys trying to get the crowd into it.

I sat next to a woman who said I know you--you're ZaGranny. Turned out her parents were some lurkers from MissoulaI had talked to before and they had asked for info a out cross country skiing in the Sandpoint area--which I had been carrying to games. So I was happy to give it to her.

I saw Lurknomore at the half, and BobZag before the game, at the half and after the game. I saw Hondo after the game.

I walked 10 laps before the game, 3 at the half, and 2 afterwards, for my 15.

Just as I was about to leave, Kelly's mom game up to me. I was really glad to see her again. She was here to see Kelly, and then to see her younger daughter play for the Kamloops team. I met her older daughter.

Will finish up this adventure tomorrow with the WBB game. So far, it has been a fantastic adventure.

Found out more about this when Father Hightower came up to where I was talking to the Olynyks after the women's game. The Baylor players always pray together on the court of a game. When they saw the Zags gather, they thought they were praying also, so they all joined in a circle and prayed together. I still thought it was neat.

After last night's game, we went back to the Red Lion and had a great dinner. I had so much left over (chicken, rice and veggies) that when we got home I made a great casserole--only adding a wine garlic cream sauce--the predominate flavors in the chicken. My favorite dining thing--getting an extra meal out of a restaurant meal.

Another interesting thing that Father Hightower said was that although the Zags are usually in the locker room when he blesses the Kennel, other teams are not. Many of them just keep doing their warmups, but about 4 (I think) the coaches tell them "Stop, we are going to pray now." He did not say which teams.

He also said, that if the opposing teams are out there, when he is in that direction, he says, (paraphrasing) "This is for you too."

It was a great game. I loved how Kelly, Elias, and Pangos played such great games and didn't play down to an opponent they had beaten so badly just a week or so ago. We also got solid games from Hart, Stockton and Kyle.

After the game, I finished up my laps. After I finished I got to talk to Kelly's Mom, the Dowers, and the Bells. It is always so much fun to talk to the guy's parents.

Then we got in the car and had a quiet trip home.

Another fantastic adventure in Zagland

Long, long adventure today. May not get it all posted tonight.

Started off early to go to a doctor's appointment and P-T in Sandpoint. Great news at the doctor's. The x-rays showed that the break is healing very well. He wants me to give up the sling, except at the end of the day if I am tired.

The P-T's stepped up my workout a bunch so I was pretty tired by byt tme we hit the road. I napped on the way, and rested at the hotel before we went over to the MAC so that I could walk. I started walking without the sling, but after 2 laps I put the sling on because the arm need support.

Saw a bunch of board members and lurkers while I was walking who were pleased to hear the latest progress I have made.

Pictures of the warm-ups.

After the game, I walked a couple more laps, and talked to Kelly's parents, David's mom, Father Hightower and other.

By the way, funniest sign tonight was Father Hightower for Pope. He said he had seen in and laughed about it, saying he could not be Pope because he is a Jesuit.

Others I saw tonight were Bulldog, Hondo, and the usual suspects.

We left the MAC at 10:30 and went back to the hotel where I did the first part of tis.

Not totally related is the great news that last night and the night before were the first nights I have be able to sleep lying down. Due to my broken arm I have been sleeping (or ore accurately not sleeping) in a recliner for the last six weeks.

We are about to get ready to leave for home.

Another great adventure in Zagland.

We headed over a little early so we could stop by the Zag Shop--the red sweatshirt I bought Mr. ID for V-day was too small.

We parked in the handicapped lot and walked over to the COG (and back which gave me a head start on my laps). Exchanged the sweatshirt with no trouble even though we had the tags but no receipt. Headed back to the MAC.

Took pics of the kennel club lined up.

After the game, I walked one more lap (after ten before the game and 1 at the half), then we drove home.

I was glad we were driving today and not yesterday. Our roads were clear both coming and going (except our road which they did not bother to plow while we were gone). I talked to a couple who drove up to Sandpoint for the day yesterday and had awful roads going home.

Got to talk to Bocco, Hondo, and BobZag at the game.

A very satisfying day.

The photo of me with Mike Hart was totally out of focus, so I'll have to try to get one at Vegas.

I had not noticed before that our three seniors were counting by 10's: "10, 20. 30"

The game was enjoyable, as i always like it when I can relax and watch the game. Elias, Kelly, and Pangos were outstanding. Loved to see the seniors start and play a lot. Nice to see some of the back ups getting good minutes, and loved to see Rem and Brian in the game.

After all the festivities, we left the MAC at 5 and drove home. On the way home I imported all my photos to I-Photo, then numbered them and exported them to my desktop. We also stopped in Rathdrum and had dinner.

We got home just before 8. I uploaded the photos to photobucket--which took a couple of hours, so I waited to post until today.

Another great day in ZagLand.

Watching the net cutting video--I have a request. We have 3 lefties on the team. Dower, Karnowski and Coleman. Coleman really struggled with the scissors. Can we get a right handed pair of scissors for the tourney and for next year?

Really have to give kudos to Mr. ID. He takes most of the photos since I can't raise my arm very high to take pics. Also, he has immense patience after the game, waiting for the guys to come out and me to talk to the parents or other fans.

As always, the banquet was great fun, good food, and warm company.

We went early to go over to Kimmel, and then had enough time for a brief Costco run.

We arrived at the MAC right at 5 as they were starting to let people in.

Social hour upstairs:

B-Man recognized me as ZaGranny, and we had a nice chat.

Our table--there were only three of us there. Wonder who spends that much (since it was sold out) and doesn't show up?

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx213/lormwise/0316137_zps934de02a.jpg

Father Hightower gave the blessing. He gave an elaborate explanation about how since we did not get our mail at this address, it wasn't our home, we were travelers, and got a traveler's dispensation from the rules of Lent. I figured that Mr. ID and I were probably really deserving of dispensaton, since we came from Sandpoint.

After eating and before the program, we were allowed to get autographs. I had brought my reproduction of the S-R front page and managed to get it signed by all the team, the coaches, and Jennifer.

Thane McCullough gave an address. Above his head was a photo of himself in Zag Uni 26--a sharp contrast to his coat and tie.

The 3 seniors gave outstanding speeches. I was especially touched by Gee's, who reinforced what we have read about his being a team player and standing up to the challenges he has faced this year and how grateful he is to have his degree from Gonzaga. He thanked Rian--even though she pushed him to the max. "I was like--I'm from junior college--we didn't have to do that there." Hart's speech had heart. Surprise! He retold his story and thanked his parents , staff and all concerned. Elias read from a script, but his speech was a genuine as the first two.

After the program we wandered around to get photos and more autographs.

About this time, a guy came up and asked "ZaGranny, are you enjoying the evening?"

I said yes and asked if he read the board. He said, no and I asked how he knew I was ZaGranny. He said "I'm with the program, and I just know."

I noticed these new displays outside the locker room of the NBA jerseys of our former players. They must have been put up after last year's WBB Banquet and before Jeremy Pargo, Ronny Turiaf, and Austin Daye changed teams.

Title says NCAA tournament: 95, 99 all the way up to 13.

All in all it was a great evening, and well worth the hefty charge. It is way more than just autographs and photos--it's a celebration of Zags basketball.

Should mention that several speakers--Tom Hudson (MC), Thane McCullough, Mark Few, stressed that we should not forget this moment regardless of how the tourney turns out.

We drove home and arrived about 11. Long but satisfying day.

Now we just have to wait for selection Sunday, to see where we will be headed on Monday.

As a side story, when we got home from Vegas Thursday night, Mr. ID said, I think I'll check the transmission fluid. It didn't look right, so he took it into our transmission guy, who said "Wow, I'm amazed you made it home." We need to have the transmission rebuilt.

So where ever we gor for the 2nd (and further) round of the tourney, we will be driving the jeep and staying in hotels--and leaving the 3 dogs at home in the car e of our neighbor.

I should mention the Senior video as part of the program. I always enjoy seeing the kids roast the seniors, and watching the highlights.

Yes, I agree the senior video is always great and funny.
Sorry to hear about the RV, but you have to go to SLC by whatever means.
Unfortunately I will miss SLC but plan on the LA portion for the 16 and elite 8.
Go Zags!
