The American Rookies are ready to play....both Tiger and Phil having some fun.

As a old fuddy duddy I am ambivalent about the the flag waving and cheering but....it is interesting and there are a lot of really compelling individuals and a really great course.

To be honest, I don't care who wins as I am more interested in individual play and match play is always facinating.

RenoZag: Ian Poulter is a beast in match play

Pretty hoarse. Only thing cooler than this would be a Zag Final Four. I've always been a huge Ian Poulter fan -- even more so now. Zillions of people packed into narrow corridors -- lot's of camaraderie -- both among USA fans and Euro fans. Would be nice if some of our WCC brethren were as civil as the folks here. Big el foldo goin' on at the moment.

Nerve wracking. Didn't have Final Day tix so played 18 before flying home. Much more nervous now than at any point during the week.

So did I.

I just had the wrong team making the stunning Sunday comeback. Ouch, btw.

That looked like a amazing course...not many pars out there for hackers... match play for 18 holes is so much more emotional than stroke play for 72 .... great competition... it was painful to watch Sergio and old guys putt..

Hard to putt when your hands are clasped firmly around your throat.

The putt referenced was after the Ryder Cup was determined.
It's not as if Tiger didn't contribute anything ... he was stuck with Stricker had a horrible Ryder Cup.

Look at Tiger's last 2 4-ball matches ... he contributed 13 birdies during those 2 matches (5 birdies on the Back 9 in each of those 2 sessions) ... Stricker contributed 3 birdies and an eagle.

In the first of Tiger's 4-ball matches, one of his opponents in his first Ryder Cup match contributed 8 birdies and an Eagle ...

In the second of his 4-ball matches, his opponents birdied each of the last 6 holes (of which Woods I believe birdied 4 of those holes to halve).

Had Stricker been able to maintain the halve in his match, Tiger would have won his match and contributed the deciding point to win the Cup. But that didn't happen -- and he missed his meaningless putt on 18 to get the half point instead of the point.

Said it at the time, saying it now: Furyk has heartache painted all over him this season after blowing two majors in the final holes. Sunday, he bogeyed the last two holes against Sergio Garcia (ugh!) to give away a point he had tucked in his pocket on the 17th tee box, when he was 1 up. He's been part of six losing Ryder Cup teams and only two winning ones. Why pick him and bring all that bad Ryder mojo back? What America needs in the Ryder Cup is new, fresh-faced leaders who don't have the Ryder Cup losing gene imprinted into their cells.

You never know what can happen on live TV. . .maybe Obama will shift into a different accent and sound like a black guy talking to a room full of black guys. . .oh, wait, that was yesterday's news ( from 2008 ). . .

GoZags: Justin Rose's bomb on #17 was a back breaker. Phil would have gotten one-half point. That's golf.

GoZags: Justin Rose's bomb on #17 was a back breaker. Phil would have gotten one-half point. That's golf. If you could point to one shot out of the thousands that were hit, that would be the one I would pick . I was proud of Phil's classy response..

That's match play, I once lost a match when my opponent had to hit a shot left handed and with his back to the green with a chop... the ball screamed out of there and hit my ball on the green and went into the hole... crap happens...

Phil's response was true sportsmanship. He looked a lot like Jack Nicklaus.
