View Full Version : Rem Bakamus

Hi everyone, just a quick introduction before I start off: Iím a new member of the boards (as you can see), but Iíve been reading them for a while now. My name is Rebekah and Iím 15 and a huge fan of Gonzaga basketball! My dad is a Zag (í78) and I intend to be one as well! I love to keep up with the latest news on the team (on Twitter, for example) and this is how I came across this:

Not sure if anybody has heard this yet, but Rem Bakamus (incoming freshman) from Mark Morris High School (Longview, WA) is officially a walk-on. He will be a redshirt freshman this year. He is a 5í11íí, 140 lb point guard. Seems he was taking summer school classes this year and was told that if he could pass 3 classes with a C+, he was on the team. Well, he passed; he uploaded a picture today of his locker nameplate and announced that he made the team.
Anybody know anything else about him?

Great start P4T --

thanks for the info, always great to have new posters and fresh info.

-- I'm a 77 grad so perhaps I know your Dad.
Send me a PM and let me know who he is.

Best of luck on your mission to become a Zag -- study hard.
Go Zags!

So, as the young lady asked, does anybody have anything else on Rem?

i had a chance to meet and get to know rem a little this summer. he's a good kid who seems to take both his academics and his hoops very seriously. playing for the zags has clearly been a dream of his so i'm really hoping it all works out.

Sounds like it could be Latin for "We put back [i.e., rebound] the thing."

Son of a coach, 2012 All-State 2A Honorable Mention, 2012 2A Greater St. Helens League Player of the Year, baseball player (infield), not finding any stats, but a few comments that he can shoot.

That's most relevant. Rem has a very high basketball IQ. Great family. Great kid. Remains to be seen if he will ever see significant PT.

When can I start calling him Balki?

did his dad play at Morton or one of the schools in SW Wash?

08-15-2012, 05:30 PM
Morton you say! Holy Billy Suter Batman.

08-15-2012, 06:24 PM
Yep, it looks like his dad played at Morton.

Also, kind of random, but it looks like his grandpa played baseball for the Spokane Indians.

Rem's dad Bill also played some hoops at the University of Puget Sound.

FYI, Morton also produced Keith Cooper, head coach at St. Martin's and Carl Howell, head coach at Tacoma CC from about the same time frame. Not bad for a little ol Class "B" school.

This thread has another link has Nate Robinson talking pretty highly of Rem.

Good one dog.

It seems that Morton has been salted with basketball figures over the years.
