I'm assuming that Mr. Karnowski is the imfamous Biggs McGee (is that the right spelling ?) that had been discussed the last couple of years on the board, but I just thought I would check to be sure that's correct.

My recollection is that Biggs McGee's first appearance in Zag mythology predated Theo Davis. Since then, the name has popped up to refer to various shadowy figures who have vaguely promised to be the next big thing on the Boone Avenue campus.

I'd have to ask DC to check his vast archives of saved GU Yahoo Board, GUNation and GUBoards posts for clarification, but that sounds about right to me ZN. Mario Kasun was "The Croatian" and after that the next great big was the big BM.

To answer the OP, to my knowledge Karnowski has always been Karnowski -- and never was the legendary Biggs McGee.

Speaking of the Boone Avenue campus what happened to the electronic sign on Hamilton? I notice last week it was gone but the foundation was still there.

Seems like that definition could meaningfully be descriptive of Hondo.

I noticed that it stopped working several weeks ago, and about 2 weeks ago, they took it down. I assume it's either being repaired or replaced.

I believe ZN, Biggs McGee was rumored to be around at the time of the infamous Theo Davis. But I think he is somewhat of a mythical being, because we apparently recruit him every off season, yet we have never seen an actual picture. And he somehow apparently has eligibility left after about 4-5 years now.

I bet he is AWESOME though.

Biggs was 6 ft 10 in, long wingspan and weighed 225. Staff worked very hard to get him and he had lost interest in basketball. He had those special tools though..........the dog wouldn't hunt.

My memory doesn't serve me that well... but my email does. Biggs was most definitely Theo Davis... yes... I have emails from 2006. Sadly, I have emails from the late 90s. When it comes to that... I'm a hoarder, but I digress.

Did a little snooping into olden times to find any off board references to Biggs McGee.. Sure enough it was Theo. Woohoo wins the prize for most intact brain cells.

Since then, the name has become synonymous with any big man that cannot be named.

I believe it's because of the new parking garage.

Wasn't Biggs sighted on campus a few months back?

It was my impression that Biggs McGee was pure fiction and a contemporary of Ursus Arctos (a 7 foot post player who could rip your head off).
Both may have been the result of our need to deal with the likes of USD's Jason Keep.

If my memory serves me well, the scoreboard at old baseball field suffered the same mysterious fate -- it disappeared. However, it was spotted just before it's dissappearance riding the hood of a truck. It's all folk lore.

What happened to the Fe-nom from Guadalahara, Meksiko Tray Maker or maybe it's Tre Maker?

I thought Biggs MCgee was the radically wrong offspring of Big Foot and a certain Ncaa coach.

Oh, wait the Romar's boys are still not playing GU. Never mind.

One thing about the Sonics I don't miss is 'Squatch. Obnoxious. He looked like something you'd pull out of clogged drain.

Spot on. They wanted to make him friendly looking for the kids, big mistake. Perhaps the second worst mascot ever. Right behind the Red Sox's Green Monster. This big, green McD's Grimmace-looking character lasted one day after getting booed off the field. They came up with another version of him, still pretty lame IMO.

I heard he committed to GU, but didn't have the SAT's to get in, so he's going to Kentucky. Probably another one and done.

I just realized that if you switch around the letters in Biggs McGee, it will actually spell out Przemek Karnowski!!!

(Don't try it. Just trust me. It works)
