Tiger.

Sleeper pick's:

The guy who won the US Open (dang, alzheimer's can't remember his name), he's done well at Carnoustie before.
Justin Rose, playing well in the major's this year.
KJ Choi, he's been playing great lately.

Second Tier:

Phil - Great player, but I think he's off his game right now.
Ernie Els - Played great last week.

The Champion Golfer of the Year will be: TW.

Angel Cabrera finished 2nd back in 1999.

That was a painful finish that year.

Van De Velde could have hit a 9-iron to get back in the fairway, pitched on and three-putted for a 6 and the win.

How do y'all think Scotsman Barry Burn will do?

Sergio is the first to 7 under par. . .

I love The Open. Big-time golf live on the telly to go with the morning's first cup o' joe, the newspaper, and a big breakfast.

Sergio looks like he's leaking oil big time. Can't help but feel bad for Steve Stricker. . .dude's putter has taken an untimely leave of absence.

The only money I ever bet on golf is a $2 nassau from time to time. . .no wager on Paddy; I read last week that he had been making the trip to Carnasty fairly frequently over the last six months and was very familiar with the course. And he did win the Irish Open in his last start before The Open.

An educated hunch that very nearly didn't come to pass.

I now find myself going from not liking Sergio at all to having some sympathy for him. I won't root for him-- but I guess I won't pull for him to choke anymore ( unless it's Ryder Cup week ). There couldn't have been many in the UK crowd pulling for him in his playoff vs. the somewhat local hero from Ireland.

I won a gift certificate for a free round of golf for four people.

The nearest course is 500+ miles away.

That is definitely a "good news - bad news" scenario if I ever heard of one.
