Zags Crack USA Today/ESPN, Collegiate Baseball, NCBWA Polls
SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University baseball team cracked three national polls for the first time this season Monday. The Bulldogs checked in at No. 22 in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches Poll, No. 24 in the Collegiate Baseball Top 30 and No. 29 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association Top 30.
The Bulldogs had been consistently receiving votes in both the Collegiate Baseball and NCBWA polls since the season began three weeks ago and finally made their way into the Top 30. The Bulldogs collected 436 points in Collegiate Baseball and 107 points to earn their way into the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches Poll.
The Bulldogs improved their perfect record to 10-0 after sweeping the three-game UTSA Classic in San Antonio, Texas, last weekend. They defeated the University of Louisiana - Lafayette 6-1 last Friday, host University of Texas - San Antonio 4-1 last Saturday and the University of Kansas 7-2 last Sunday.
The University of Florida remains the top team in all three polls.
The Bulldogs will play a three-game series with the University of New Mexico this weekend. The series starts Friday at 5 p.m. PST.
