Where's BYU? I thought they were the definition of greatness with their one Sweet 16 in 30 years?

That would seem to be a favorable draw. I think GU could take down UNLV and move to the Sweet 16, assuming they beat Minnesota in the Round of 64. There's still a lot of basketball to play though so this probably isn't how the bracket will shake out but it's still fun to look at.

Disagree. Alb is a mtn west town, and the locals will pull for their conference, making it essentially a road game, as Wyoming was. Not to mention the fact that UNLV is very, very good, and Moser/Stanback are hard to match up with.

Yes, after watching that UNLV - UNC game I would like to avoid UNLV at all costs. They are one of the most explosive teams in NCAA.

On another note, would SMC in Portland be a negative for them? Their fans barely travel to Vegas, I could see the NW backlash create a hostile environment and spur some #gaeltears.

Either way, Zags need to get to Portland, for selfish reasons, not Gael reasons.

This is about the time last year that SMC was looking really good on paper.

And that was with MM, the conference MVP.

They might have just slayed the mighty BYU on the road, but the OOC scheduling and minutes played by starters could begin to take a toll over the next 4 weeks.

They're the best team in the conference for now, but after 2/9/12, don't be shocked if those seeds swap and you see GU in PDX when Joe is done with his bracket that week.

Although we'd have to go to Louisville I'd salivate at a potential round of 64 pairing vs UW....

Rule Number 1 in Zag NCAA Tournament Appearances: Avoid the MWC in the first two rounds.

Have we ever had a "W" against them?

Shhhh, don't want to give BYU any gloating fodder...;)

One of my favorite OOC games off all-time was an epic OT thriller vs New Mexico at the 'The Pit' in 2002. Zags came out on top 95-90 & Dickau w/a double-double, remember the days we could score 90+ pts...
