Confirmed by Gibbs' HS coach.

LINK (http://www.mostlynothing.com/2007/07/confirmed-iowa-will-not-be-getting.shtml)

It's down to Gonzaga and Iowa State.

I am hoping like mad he heads to Spokane.

One thing to note, ISU's coach has been recruiting Gibbs since he coached at UNI. They have a very good working relationship. Grant really likes McDermott.

He will fit into Few's system very well... If Iowa couldn't get him I was hoping for Gonzaga (anyone but ISU or Wisky).

well done, Few et al

"Gibbs received scholarship offers from Iowa, Wisconsin, Iowa State and Gonzaga. The 6-5 guard made a recent visit to Gonzaga's campus in Spokane, Washington and got to play with former Zags star Adam Morrison, and met former NBA All-Star guard John Stockton. He grew up as a Gonzaga fan."

That is a pretty convincing crowd. It sounds like GU pulled out the stops on this one.

Saw Gibbs play on two videos with poor camera work. Both games were totally lacking in defense. So Gibbs had a free hand at popping from NBA-3. He didn't especially move without the ball very well, but then again, his team's strategy consisted of looping the ball around the perimeter until someone had an open 3. I'd like to see a little more than shooting to his game. It's easy to get the shot off and connect when no one bothers to defend. I'd say he's a new, improved Scott Bankhead, which isn't bad, but then again, what do I know?

I thought Scott Bankhead pitched for the Mariners in the late '80s/early '90s ?

arrrrrgh! The suspense is driving me wild:explode:Well, the local TV link has the coach saying the decision's tomorrow. And the local paper (http://gazetteonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070709/SPORTS/70709022/1008) has the father saying a "week or so, maybe longer".

And there's this from CycloneFanatic.com (http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/front-page-news/10406-grant-gibbs-update-50-50-a.html)
where the site Administrator says,

Chris Williams

I just got off the phone with Grant and here's what's new.

Grant was going to make a decision tomorrow...but that is no longer going to happen because he needs more time to think. It's down to Iowa State and Gonzaga and he insisted that it was currently 50 50.

I will have more with a ton of quotes this week in the Tribune but as of now Iowa State is still very much alive in this recruiting battle.

Well, if he told an ISU guy that he is 50-50...
