    Bogus calls and gutless nocall

How can 3 refs ignore David getting mugged at mid court and let Tu take the ball away by going right through David's shoulder. Gutless no calls like that are exactly what percipatates fighting by the players.
Stop and slow motion show Elias absolutely did not even come close to traveling yet that was the call.
Also what is the over and back rule? Kevin was called for this at a critical point in the game yet the mid court camera shows that the ball never crossed the plane of mid court. But of all the rotten calls the no call on Holloway constantly reaching in and fouling and then going right throug David had to be the most spineless of all.

    OK I feel better now.

I agree. How could Tu ram into David with his chest while reaching in and not have that called a foul. Outragious.
On the over and back I believe your feet cannot go over and back while dribbling-not positive but Kevins did.

I almost flipped out on the travel call on E and the non call on Holloway. That was a foul in every league and arena around the world, but X had some momentum going so I guess they had to let it go.

I think they messed up the over and back call too. The ref that called it didn't exactly have the angle to make that call.
"After holding open practices during his first three seasons, Romar closed them to reporters last season, citing the "Gonzaga factor." He felt his team was compromised before the 2004-05 game against the Zags, that the opponent awaiting him and beating him 99-87 in Spokane seemed a little too well prepared."

the shot on DS looked more like a hockey check. Certainly not a pick. I'd like to see that call on Hart vs. Tu, also. He earned the shot & the points but not the f.t., imo.

I agree...the no call was not one of their better moments.

Over and back is the feet not the ball (the ball can go over and back I believe).

I was impressed by how the refs seemed to let the guys play through contact. Definitely a game that should have toughened our guys up a bit. I liked that they adjusted to the leniency of the refs in the second half and started to be more aggressive on the defensive end paying particular attention to try and swat at the ball when X was passing, knowing that it probably wasn't going to get called if there was minimal contact.

            Close, just to clarify:

"When an offensive ball handler approaches the half court line, the ball and both feet need to cross the line before an over and back call can be made."

The Over and Back rule is as follows:

First, the player must establish both feet and the ball within their half court. Until this is done, no over and back can be called. However, at the same time, the 10 second count of being in the back court is not stopped until all three are established in the front court. Once you have been established, you cannot re-enter the back court. This includes both feet as well as the ball. The call was still wrong in the game as the ball can enter the back court and you can retrieve it if the opposing team knocks it into the back court.

I thought we got an incredible number of calls for a road game. And I thought Harris got away with travelling on several occasions.

                This thread is weak.

So. There were 2 bad over and back calls made. I thought so!

The one travel call when he just took his first step was ridiculous, the one where he drove the lane was obvious - he can't get the Euro rule out of his head at times.

One pick on David was clean, one was akin to a football fumble.

I was pretty upset at halftime at how the game had been called up to that point, I thought that X got a lot of calls down low that were not called on GU and the discrepency was pretty bad. Second half, not so much in terms of fouls except for above.

But, I refuse to go where BYU fans went. We won and the refs had little to do with it, when you lose like SCU did b/c of a blatant rule violation that was let go - you get to scream about the officiating and demand action from the conference - when you get blown out by 19 points and blame the refs OR how bad your team is playing, but not a thing about how well SMC played, you should keep your mouth shut.

Heard Tom Hudson say on the pre-game radio broadcast that it was an all WCC crew tonight.

I thought we were getting alot of favorable calls early. The refs were obviously bad, but on both sides.

I know the gray haired ref with the spiky hair called the SMC/BYU game. He called way more charges in that game than ours.
