This week's WCC rankings from the Examiner:

2. Gonzaga (9-2)

The nonconference slate is over for Gonzaga and, as usual, came out smelling like a rose.

The Bulldogs had the toughest preseason of any of the WCC teams but let a couple of games slip away.

Gonzaga can be better but may not get a chance to prove it again until they see Saint Mary’s or BYU.

They do play Xavier next weekend but, since the suspensions, is not the same team.

Start with the obvious: how can you write in the lead sentence that the "nonconference slate is over" them say in the last sentence "They do play Xavier next weekend?" The only explanation is that there's going to be a ripple in the space-time continuum. Then there's the whole Xavier subject. Of course they haven 't been the same team since the suspensions, but all of those suspensions will be over when the play GU.

Maybe the writer is trying out for The Bleacher Report?

Must be distracted by all the Bonds goings on down there, Angelo.

Fortunately this idiot isn't on "The Committee".

Therefore, I wouldn't worry about it.

maybe the writer is trying out for the bleacher report?

Or subconsciously reminding himself to pick up that bottle of Clorox!

This isn't the San Francisco Examiner, it's Examiner.com, which has no connection to the newspaper. Examiner.com is another one of those media sites that relies on people supplying content for no or very little pay. If I'm not mistaken, in the case of examiner.com writers get paid based on page views. So, if you think the guy's an idiot, do not click on his story.

The author must check in with this board. The article has been amended. Hmmm.
