"6-7 junior Hunter Myers, currently the top-rated junior in Nevada by ESPN, ... [and] the 52nd rated junior small forward in the country ... has received strong interest from Nevada, Gonzaga, Stanford, USC, Utah and Harvard, among others."

Can anyonme confirm this, or offer an opinion as to whether Hunter is the one we want?

Hunter Myers, 6-5 JR SF Minden (Nev.) Douglas, is one of the more promising small forwards in the west for 2013. In addition to being a good basketball player, Myers is also an outstanding student with a GPA of 4.5.
I spoke with Myers recently and asked him about the schools that he’s considering.

“My top schools right now would probably be Nevada, Stanford, Harvard, Yale, MIT and Gonzaga,” said Myers. “They’re all pretty equal and I wouldn’t be able to make a choice right now.”

I asked Myers what he’s looking for in a school.

“I’m looking for a good basketball program as well as a good education,” said Myers. “I want to be an engineer, so I’m looking for a good engineering program.

I asked Myers if location or early playing time would be factors in his decision.

“The location doesn’t really matter much right now,” said Myers. “I’m looking at schools in the east and the west. And playing time isn’t much of a factor. I just want a strong program with a coach that’s been there for a while. “

Myers has already taken unofficial visits to Nevada, Stanford, Harvard, Yale, MIT and USC. He said he has a couple other schools in mind that he’d like to visit.

“I’d like to get to Utah and possibly Gonzaga,” said Myers.

Myers said he doesn’t see himself making a decision any time soon.

“I don’t see myself deciding this year,” said Myers. “It won’t

I'll enjoy watching him at Stanford.

Any kid that would consider playing BB at MIT (MIT!!!) b/c he wants to be an engineer is going to be smart enough to say, which school has the best BB team plus engineering department combo = Stanford. I am surprised that Princeton is not on his list, I thought it was the strongest Ivy engineering, but maybe I am thinking physics.

And thats not a knock on GU engineering, I am fully aware of how much that program has gotten better. Does Cal Tech have a Basketball team?

I just don't see how any kid with strong academic credentials and a desire to get a great education could pass up an offer from Stanford.

Basketball is obviously a very important part of this young man's life. I suspect there will be a lot more to the decision than the reputation of the school's engineering department. For example, if one school stands out as having future teammates and coaches that are preferable, that will likely be a bigger factor.

It's cool we're are in the mix.

I dont see how the kid is 6'5 and has almost five blocks per game :)

Kelly O is doing GU's engineering program right? Im sure its good but up against Stanford, Harvard, MIT... How much is basket ball really going to drive his decision?

I thought Kelly was an accounting major ..

Hicks refers to Myers being 6'5", but his height is listed at 6'7" on his MaxPreps profile, and I think I saw 6'8" mentioned elsewhere as being his height.

The only school both Scout and Rivals show having offered thus far is Nevada.

That's what Zagweb shows.

Play ball at GU, have some fun and get B.S. degree. Get serious and pursue graduate degree at MIT or Stanford. Problem solved. (That was easy.)

No thanks....very uninspiring interest list and stats that don't jump out in a poor basketball state. I'm sure he will find a great fit at the next level, but hoping the staff is shooting a bit higher.
