I'm really, really bummed about this one. One of the true good guys in the NBA and an absolute pleasure to watch play basketball. When he was at his peak, he was much closer to "best in the league" than people gave him credit for.

That's a pity. Was a great college player, and had a bright future before injuries derailed it.

It's a rumor from a "source"

There's $63 million reasons why he won't retire.

Except these "sources" are very reliable sources, and this has been an outcome most have expected now for quite some time..

Also, Roy would still get every penny of his 60+ million dollars.

"Under a medical retirement, Roy will still get paid the $64 million he's owed over the next four seasons, but the salary will come off of the Blazers' cap sheet beginning next season."

But so would the amensty rule and the Blazers would recover any salary he'd receive from another team.

Pretty darn credible sources.. And they are everywhere. Nobody is really going to want Roy. He's damaged goods to say the least. Those knees are absolutely shot.

Roy and Nate out of the leauge within a couple days (hours?) from each other. Too bad, I always root for players from this area at the next level.

I'm sure Nate will be picked up by somebody...
