Making five final fours in twelve years is remarkable when you consider that MSU isn't on the same tier as Duke, North Carolina, Kansas and Kentucky in terms of its recruiting prowess. Don't get me wrong, Izzo gets a lot of top 50 talent, but he almost never has a roster full of Burger Boys. What he happens to be is a first rate basketball coach who knows how to get the best out of a group of guys in March/April.

It's pretty cool to think that Michigan State will be at the Kennel on Saturday night. No Spokane Arena, no Key Arena in Seattle. As Coach Few said on TV this week, ten years ago this game doesn't happen. Then again, Izzo has never been afraid of challenging his team, hasn't he?

Their highs have been incredible highs.

Their lows? 4 1st round exits since '00? I know folks that make fun of GU's 3 1st round exits since '99. Of course -- those folks popping off about GU have multiple years where they haven't even MADE the dance.

At least they have one more first round exit than us (as stated in above comment), and it looks like we are due for a Sweet 16!

Michigan beat MSU in both conference games last year, a huge feat in itself, as one was in the Breslin Center, and I believe UM hadn't beaten MSU there for 15-20 years...?

I've always thought Izzo is a terrific in-game coach. He makes great adjustments at halftime and his teams seem to thrive in high pressure situations.

I'm glad we have a week to prepare for this game while they will be playing their 3rd in 7 days on Saturday.

Izzo's easily one of the top coaches in the country. He has proven that rebounding and defense wins.
